Well having looked at it in hand I have to say that at least the finish is a smooth matte as opposed to the usual crap streaky matte finish. If they had used spot gloss on the plane and possibly for the city below it would have looked similar to how they did the Untouchables or Shooter. It would have looked beautiful. Zavvi have offered me a discount, just waiting to find out the percentage.

I think you are mistaken, the plane is spot glossed.

Yeah feel the backdrop of the city then feel the plane. Its definitly gloss just very light. Opened mine and embossed is misaligned and the spine is slightly out of posistion.. anyone else got this?

Same here, but you can only notice it if you look closely.

So you're saying that if you look at the steel: (1) with one squinted eye open, (2) in a dimly lit room, and (3) from about 10 feet away, then you won't notice those imperfections. Good to know.

I don't own this myself (never ordered either) but judging from Ricster's pics a few pages back, it certainly doesn't look glossy to me. More like the bare silver metal shining through, giving it a slight shine (check the back at the bottom, it looks the same effect). You'd know for definite if it was glossy (Shooter, Gravity, etc) as it's easy to tell.

Again, I don't own it so I'm going solely by the close-up pics.

It is definitely glossy, the pictures are deceiving.

So did anyone actually complain to Zavvi about misleading gloss and did you get a response? I just received my copy today and it looks nice, but I expected a Boy in the Striped Pyjamas like gloss finish.

Hey guys, yes, as promised this was discussed with Zavvi-as posted here in our OP last week, it was confirmed to have an embossed title and a spot gloss. Unfortunately, the website description said 'gloss' so it does not specify whether it was to be full gloss, spot gloss on the title,etc. Hopefully in the future info can be communicated a bit faster between the parties on their end, so that discrepancies can be minimized even further.

It looks like a nice Steelbook was still released here but feel free to contact Zavvi with your comments, as we always suggest.

Yes I contacted them and they offered me 15% off.

Granted this steelbook isn't as described, I still like it. I just hope Beetlejuice and V for Vendetta are as described!
