Q) What is the purpose of this thread?
A) To discuss Ebay policies/issues

Q) Where can i find the Ebay Presale Policy?
A) Click HERE

Q) Can a HDN Trade mod help me with an Ebay sale/trade issue? Also why is there no 'ebay bad traders' list?
A) Simply put, no. To find out why, ensure you read the following spoiler:
please use this thread as a RESOURCE to ask your fellow members about problems you've had with a reseller or questions about e-bay.

do NOT use this thread to attack or refute other members. if you an e-bay dispute with a member here, perhaps it's best to approach a trading mod before posting? we don't police e-bay, but maybe we can give you a tip or two.

if members ignore these suggestions, then the thread might be locked for a couple of weeks.

thank you.

hey folks,

as a reminder what myself (and other mods) have continued to mention via private message, e-mail and other areas. we do NOT police other trading marketplaces like ebay, youtube, amazon and the rest.

there is ONLY a certain amount of information at our disposal and we do not have the resources in these other locations as we do on this forum - things that we can look at and evaluate.

having said that, there are trading rules on this forum that have been instituted for your own protection for trading transactions that happen HERE.

this includes the pending / active sales threads, the requirement of feedback posted for any new traders, our support ticketing system, the active investigations held by trading moderators and many other things we do not discuss openly.

we have long held that problems occurring on these other forums and marketplaces should be taken the appropriate authorities on THOSE websites.

many of you are established traders here on this forum and you should know all about the guidelines that are stickied in this section - including having new traders send first, getting tracking from the other party and proof of shipment, and what other precautions can be taken to protect your trading safety.

trading via ebay and their messaging system is against their stated policy and should not occur - and there are reasons why they have created that policy. you don't have protection of paypal or their listing system as a buyer or seller.

having said that, if there is trouble with an ebay seller or buyer, you should go to their website and report it there. if you are not aware of this process, follow the below link for more information.

http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/buy/report-trading.html

so folks can feel free to chat about a seller or buyer that they are having problems with, but I can tell you right now - there will not be a "witch hunt" by moderators or staff based on one person's account of the problems or trouble they are having - and we limit the action taken for or against members here to transactions that occurred on this forum.

as stated in the thread title of our bad traders list - that list is for FORUM MEMBERS ONLY.

thank you.
Q) Where can i find the HDN Buyer Beware / Bad Traders list?
A) You can find the thread HERE

hey folks,

You may be aware of a user we recently banned on this forum because of a trading issue, dleavey81.

It appears that he has started selling items on e-bay (thanks to a member here for the heads up and another member for digging a bit further).

So it is recommended that you avoid this seller, given the issues of where payments are accepted and no items are sent.

Daz,

Sorry to hear that buddy...

I lost money and received a damaged steelbook from this scum bag.

I hope the mods put this guy on the bad eBay list now so hopefully no other ninja is stung by him.

I've sold quite a bit over the last few months and I always get folks from over seas asking if I can ship int. Needless to say I just told them that as long as they pay for tracking I have absolutely no problem. USPS has the highest tracking out there lol

I just made it simple, you want it you pay for tracking. You don't want to pay for tracking then you don't want the item.

Horhay.. when you say tracking, what method are you using to ship? I've tried to get tracking on international packages before and they people at the window say our system doesn't work with other countries. I've sent things registered, but they are not "tracked" either.

If you ship it via Priority International it comes with a tracking number that should be good worldwide.

I am gonna start to put actuall Sales Value on the Customs Dec !!

I do this on international packages no matter what. They asked me to put a low value on a 80$ package, and I said no. I told em we could cancel the auction, but they decided they wanted it anyhow.

I'll only make exceptions if the buyer is from this board.

Interesting, the post office told me that there wasn't an option to get tracking.

I never declare the value lower unless I know the person from here or otherwise. Rookie mistake to declare lower value as you cant get your full money back through a claim with the shipping company if you should need to.

There is no perfect answer because everyone has a different POV. Bad past experiences or paypal concerns can lead you into extreme shipping methods. Honestly everything international can be tracked. First class with or without registered, priority and express. It all boils down to the relationship or sometimes the reputation of the people you are dealing with. That is why you see a lot of the same people dealing with eachother exclusively, unless you are from China, Singapore, Taiwan or Korea. Then you are a busy person nowadays.

Everything can be tracked on usps.com up until customs gets hold of it. The main reason I have never bothered with ebay is because of the headaches with shipping. I'd rather trade with a collector on here.

I wish people could understand that it takes time for first class mail from the U.S. to overseas during the peak mail season to arrive.

And the opposite journey :p I had someone complaining his steel hadnt arrived yet the other day - I'd posted it on 22nd Dec. I had to spell it out to him that there is probably a backlog of post due to CHRISTMAS etc, numptey. (he got it yesterday)

If I'm sending something overseas, I give them the estimate via a message or e-mail that USPS estimates it takes anywhere from 10-14 business days, but to expect longer delays if they are getting them via the holidays.

Also, I usually insure through u-pic or shipinsurance via auctiva for the full value of the item + shipping. Only costs a $2 - definitely worth a piece of mind, even if you're shipping a $30 item + $11 shipping.

If I know the seller is from this board I just ask them to take the auction down and sell through here, save on ebay fees and even paypal fees if the seller has a good reputation on the forums

I am using shipsaver on every order.

I'd certainly consider adding cherina99 to a 'good sellers' list - top drawer delivery, bomb-proof packaging for the £2.25 P&P and it arrived next day. Love it when things go right.

I just got an Email from him : I caunt quote any on here , but he basiacally said that , its a shame that I (meaning Me) dont live closer to him so he could show me the scratch / line / mark underneath the shrink wrtap !!b as his Camera is not good enough to show up the imperfection !!

I replyed :

Mate, I understand your frustration , but with out a photo , I am unable to assist you ?

I am got 557 feed back with every 1 @ 100% satifactory transactions..I can offer a Fullredfund , but you will have to Post it to my friend in the UK , he is a very prominant Seller on Ebay & I do believe he has dealt with you before !!

plz advise me of what you would like me to do ?

best regards Dazza ;)

He reply :

well, I will just keep it then , but it just leans me a lesson to be more carefull in the Future not to buy from Overseas ..

thansk bla bla..

The End !! he left positive feed back & that is it !!

I still think he must try this on with every one ??

I think it would protect any future Ebay seller on here If his name was added to the HIT LIST please ??
