Q) What is the purpose of this thread?
A) To discuss Ebay policies/issues

Q) Where can i find the Ebay Presale Policy?
A) Click HERE

Q) Can a HDN Trade mod help me with an Ebay sale/trade issue? Also why is there no 'ebay bad traders' list?
A) Simply put, no. To find out why, ensure you read the following spoiler:
please use this thread as a RESOURCE to ask your fellow members about problems you've had with a reseller or questions about e-bay.

do NOT use this thread to attack or refute other members. if you an e-bay dispute with a member here, perhaps it's best to approach a trading mod before posting? we don't police e-bay, but maybe we can give you a tip or two.

if members ignore these suggestions, then the thread might be locked for a couple of weeks.

thank you.

hey folks,

as a reminder what myself (and other mods) have continued to mention via private message, e-mail and other areas. we do NOT police other trading marketplaces like ebay, youtube, amazon and the rest.

there is ONLY a certain amount of information at our disposal and we do not have the resources in these other locations as we do on this forum - things that we can look at and evaluate.

having said that, there are trading rules on this forum that have been instituted for your own protection for trading transactions that happen HERE.

this includes the pending / active sales threads, the requirement of feedback posted for any new traders, our support ticketing system, the active investigations held by trading moderators and many other things we do not discuss openly.

we have long held that problems occurring on these other forums and marketplaces should be taken the appropriate authorities on THOSE websites.

many of you are established traders here on this forum and you should know all about the guidelines that are stickied in this section - including having new traders send first, getting tracking from the other party and proof of shipment, and what other precautions can be taken to protect your trading safety.

trading via ebay and their messaging system is against their stated policy and should not occur - and there are reasons why they have created that policy. you don't have protection of paypal or their listing system as a buyer or seller.

having said that, if there is trouble with an ebay seller or buyer, you should go to their website and report it there. if you are not aware of this process, follow the below link for more information.

http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/buy/report-trading.html

so folks can feel free to chat about a seller or buyer that they are having problems with, but I can tell you right now - there will not be a "witch hunt" by moderators or staff based on one person's account of the problems or trouble they are having - and we limit the action taken for or against members here to transactions that occurred on this forum.

as stated in the thread title of our bad traders list - that list is for FORUM MEMBERS ONLY.

thank you.
Q) Where can i find the HDN Buyer Beware / Bad Traders list?
A) You can find the thread HERE

So now Caalina is saying they never got your item? Sounds like a scam to me as I have shipped a package two months ago and Caalina said not received yet. I just shipped out another one that they had bought a while ago yesterday so it will be interesting to see what happens. Lets work together on this ok dragon?

Chip why sell to someone who as already frauded you?

Aye, grow some balls GB! ;) Feedback isn't the end-all...at least you can reply to it these days.

you can also have Bad Feedback removed by Ebay Safety & well bing Team :scat:
not hard at all , just a letter faxed to them , signed by a JP (justice of the peace) or don't know what they are in other Countries , but I had a T#T leave really bad feedback for me , that had no proof at all, and I fought it & had it removed by Ebay !!

I must say , that I always read as much comments about sellers & Buyers as much as possible , to see what they have been buying prior to dealing with me , and allso , to see the Star ratings :)

I just want to ask you Ebay guys ? why do some Ebay Sellers do Private bidding ?? on their listings ?? is their any financial gain from it ? or just ?? wat ??

and Private Auctions as well ? is this for security purpose ??

I noticed a couple of Prominent Sellers do it ?

I assumed that since Caalina paid for their order tow days ago that meant they received their order. I will report back what Caalina says as I sent an email. I think we need to work together on this and share it with ebay if Caalina is saying the same thing for both you and me.

Hey Chip,

My situation with Caalina is I sold 2 high value steels 18 days ago. I shipped tracked however on the Royal Mail track and trace its showing going to Australia instead of Austria.

Caalina hasn't contacted me yet so fingers crossed the destination may change and end up to the right country.

Will update you if any problems do arise with this buyer.

Sellers dont want you to see what their steels had sold for if you click on their feedback score. Socrates Magic always has feedback sales private so no one can see how much he sells them for. It's your selling skills you don't want anyone to see. Keep your secrets private :)

Oh EEK!

thought it would have been the opposite way around ? unless they been selling at a loss !!

I would for 1 , be wanting prospective buyers to see how much my last item sold for , so it gives them the Heads up , that that it was I am gunning for :naughty:

If not , he is obviously selling at a much lesser price than he is asking for then ??

thanks for explanation,

Yes that international signed for is a joke better of using air sure or signed for tracked I think that is parcel force?

I've shipped 2 items last week international signed for one to Germany and one to Texas.

The Germany one says delivered no feedback though ;( the Texas one says it's in the US.

I Keep all my receipts regardless one things for sure I need to up my international shipping costs I charged £6 it cost me £10+:ohno: on one item

Royal Mail tracking is a complete joke.

All Signed for / Airsure packages aren't fully tracked in Royal Mail website. It only says the item is in the destination country for delivery. The package has to then be tracked in the destination country's postal website if it was scanned.

On top of this, all tracked packages take longer than Airmail shipping which is strange and frustrating. One of my package sent by Signed-For is stuck somewhere in the US for 3 weeks without any movement. Also inbound packages with tracking number aren't scanned at all by Royal Mail. It only comes with a sticker 'Signature required'. True shame on Royal Mail for being so lethargic.

Once I shipped a package to China but Royal Mail website showed that it was in Australia. Luckily the package was delivered but it took about 4 weeks.

Best thing to do is ~ add insurance to the Ebay price , as its only a couple of buck's , depending on Value of course..

And just tell them that you wont put Lower Value on the Customs form & overseas Buyers must take out insurance !! ;) !!

Cover your A$$e$ , as much as you can !!

I see many , many Sellers who have this as a Condition, in their Listings !!

then you are covered 100% If you get scammed !!

Ebay / PayPal will always favour the bloody Buyer 99.99% of the time regardless of what precautions you try to take :(

Serious enough ? Get your own Disclaimer made up ? that must make some difference ?

This friskydingo is really being a pain. This is the message he sent me today.

I made a case to cover myself. Actually I found when I woried for the post office that the period immediatly after christmas was the least busiest time! people are broke and the weather is bad! Also the bank holidays have been over for some time so that excuse wont fly. Finally something must have gone wrong because numerous packages from the US have reached me. Looper fs has gone from canada to usa then uk all within a week!

I sent him a link from the insurance company to fill out and he replied with this.

As I said I only opened the case to cover nyself, you cant realistically expect me to do nothing! The number of other packages that ive had sent from your region suggests to me sonething has gone wrong.. Anyway this is like the 3rd or 4th time im being asked to wait which to most ppl indicates something has gone wrong somewhere, especially when tracking isnt working..

As you can see this is a person that nobody should deal with. He never even gave me a chance as he first emailed me 1 week after shipping it on the 2nd of January. My post office is plugged still with people sending packages. For him to state what he did in the first message above is just basically rude. I suggest everyone keep that guy on your block list. I wonder if I can get ebay to ban him.

Just remember this person is from U.K. and I am in the U.S. on the west coast. It takes time for stuff to go to the U.K. when shipping first class. That is the slowest way to ship and to top it off it was on Jan 2nd and that day was the busiest day in the post office that I saw in the last 6 months.

---------- Post added at 02:26 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:20 PM ----------

I was wondering if I could point out his name on here so everyone knows not to deal with him?

wouldn't bother !! as the Mods / staff will just delete it  as you have to send the whole storey to them first Via "PM" apparently , before you can , Name - NAMES EEK!

Guys, need help. I bid and won an item recently and the steel got delivered yesterday. The listing of the item said 'New', description said 'New: An item that is still in its original shrink wrap from the manufacturer and the original manufacturer's seal (if applicable) has not been removed'.

The steel came to me without the shrink wrap and when asked, this is what the seller had to say:
"I will certainly let Royal Mail know and see if they will do anything. Items that are new are not necessarily sealed (here in uk anyway) and steelbooks are never sealed in Europe, when you buy them in stores the DVD isn't in them/ behind the counter etc. real shame it's damaged now though :("

Is this statement indeed true? I would be gobsmacked if it was considering the amount of discussions the threads have on devaluing the steel by opening the wrap!

All help appreciated - cheers

You and I both know that fires get started pretty easily between members and IMO - it's not an unreasonable request to have a heads up about the situation first, since staff / mods are the ones that have to come in and mediate in the end. ;)
