Q) What is the purpose of this thread?
A) To discuss Ebay policies/issues

Q) Where can i find the Ebay Presale Policy?
A) Click HERE

Q) Can a HDN Trade mod help me with an Ebay sale/trade issue? Also why is there no 'ebay bad traders' list?
A) Simply put, no. To find out why, ensure you read the following spoiler:
please use this thread as a RESOURCE to ask your fellow members about problems you've had with a reseller or questions about e-bay.

do NOT use this thread to attack or refute other members. if you an e-bay dispute with a member here, perhaps it's best to approach a trading mod before posting? we don't police e-bay, but maybe we can give you a tip or two.

if members ignore these suggestions, then the thread might be locked for a couple of weeks.

thank you.

hey folks,

as a reminder what myself (and other mods) have continued to mention via private message, e-mail and other areas. we do NOT police other trading marketplaces like ebay, youtube, amazon and the rest.

there is ONLY a certain amount of information at our disposal and we do not have the resources in these other locations as we do on this forum - things that we can look at and evaluate.

having said that, there are trading rules on this forum that have been instituted for your own protection for trading transactions that happen HERE.

this includes the pending / active sales threads, the requirement of feedback posted for any new traders, our support ticketing system, the active investigations held by trading moderators and many other things we do not discuss openly.

we have long held that problems occurring on these other forums and marketplaces should be taken the appropriate authorities on THOSE websites.

many of you are established traders here on this forum and you should know all about the guidelines that are stickied in this section - including having new traders send first, getting tracking from the other party and proof of shipment, and what other precautions can be taken to protect your trading safety.

trading via ebay and their messaging system is against their stated policy and should not occur - and there are reasons why they have created that policy. you don't have protection of paypal or their listing system as a buyer or seller.

having said that, if there is trouble with an ebay seller or buyer, you should go to their website and report it there. if you are not aware of this process, follow the below link for more information.

http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/buy/report-trading.html

so folks can feel free to chat about a seller or buyer that they are having problems with, but I can tell you right now - there will not be a "witch hunt" by moderators or staff based on one person's account of the problems or trouble they are having - and we limit the action taken for or against members here to transactions that occurred on this forum.

as stated in the thread title of our bad traders list - that list is for FORUM MEMBERS ONLY.

thank you.
Q) Where can i find the HDN Buyer Beware / Bad Traders list?
A) You can find the thread HERE

It was a Hellboy II steel - i've already told him that it was HIS responsibility to check/read the listing BEFORE buying so I won't be offering a refund, especially as the steel arrived in mint condition...

Tell him to jog on! The steel is not damaged.

Seriously some people look for anything to get something out of you.

I offered one of the scumbags who allegedly didn't get his steelbook to send him another copy free of charge, he now responds saying that he'd rather have a full refund because he "since arranged to trade for this particular steelbook with a friend of mine". Some people really make me sick to my stomach. Is it allowed to mention his name here? He is from the UK and he himself is selling lots of steelbooks on ebay.co.uk and I'm sure he is a member here as well...

It's getting better, the second one ALSO doesn't want a free replacement, because it was a birthday gift for a buddy and that day is gone now so he ONLY wants a refund.... :hilarious:

My Hellboy 2 from play.com has the same issue actually. The trader here on HDN told me about the issue beforehand and I'm happy that he did, because I dealt with people on here who cancelled a trade because of much less than that... Steelbook OCD is an interesting phenomenon indeed...

I always worry about doing trades in case the other party is really OCD about their steels and I do my absolute best to get them the best steel I can find but I always breathe a huge sigh of relief when they are happy. Sometimes I just buy rather than trade because I worry about trades and OCD. I am not nearly as OCD as others when it comes to steels, I could care less about shrink wrapping as I am going to open them but occasionally I haven't paid enough attention and ended up with a steel for me with a scratch or a box cutter line and I would never want to pass that onto someone I am trading with. Plus I will buy a steel for cheap with a dent in it knowing I can remove most dents pretty well (just bought a Die another Day steel off Amazon for $6 with a dent and I removed the dent almost entirely) and I am sure others wouldn't do that deal.

I wasn't meaning to refer directly to his prices, It was more to the point that he is doing real Auctions now , instead of BIN!

I noticed that. But I think as a seller you have to move with the times. There are a few sellers on eBay now specialising in the high-end Asian stuff, and it's a competitive market. And when some of the competition start to offer low-start-price auctions you have to keep pace with them, otherwise regular customers will drift away to other sellers. Offering nice items at auction is a good way to attract interest in your other stock.

I fact I think quite a few of the auction items are still in print, and final bid values might only reflect what it would cost to source them from retail. But there are definitely some more interesting ones amongst them, so it'll be interesting to see what value the marketplace determines for them.

hey folks, I have a buyer for you to add to your block list.

vic2389

This person tried to purchase a steelbook from me and ran out of offers.

They then used a secondary account to determine what offer I would accept, when I did accept that offer...the account asked to cancel the transaction because they found it somewhere else cheaper.

I determined that these accounts were the same as the secondary account wasn't actively bidding on anything (funny how you can check that) and they were linked by feedback.

So over 28 days later, I have now received MY FIRST negative feedback in over TWO YEARS from the secondary account...I imagine since I blocked both accounts from purchasing anything on my listings.

Yeah a lot of the Hellboy 2 Steels were like that. Not your fault, he should have saw that on the picture.

Carefull with Couscous94120 on ebay that has stolen my pics of Terminator 2 T2.0. He is selling my copy now that he doesn't have. In fact i think he is Serval here coz he bought it here with 3 others steels but i have never received payment. He is selling it before paying it in the better case!!

Did you send them out before receiving payment?

I just had this message from Canadian buyer:

"The steelbook you sent has very lose shrink wrap. It does not look well in my collection. Do you accept returns?"

Honestly. I clearly state that if you're ocd PM BEFORE buying. Why do people turn into such lazy twits when they buy stuff online? (ie not reading before buying)

I recently sold off a ton of my DVD's and listed combined shipping terms. And then I get messages after the auctions end stating.. oh.. your shipping cost is too high. It should only cost x amount for the 10 dvd's I won. (even tho half of them he won for a penny.

I basically told him, by bidding on my auctions you agreed to my terms and ebay doesn't require sellers to "combine" shipping. I've reported the guy already to ebay stating that I expect the guy to leave negative feedback even though i've bent over for him. After he leaves feedback either way, I'm going to let him know I'm blocking him from any further auctions of mine.

I think he bid, knowing full well that he was going to try this and did read my terms.

He is perhaps not "Serval" since the two last feedbacks this seller received on ebay is from a guy called Serval27000. :wtf:

Anyone deal with elachris62 on ebay before? He regularly sells on ebay. He also goes by muscipulaa2010...based in Lubeck, Germany.

He has a perfect record on ebay, so silly me, after buying 2 steels from him a few months ago, decided to ask whether he wants to trade, he said yes. I sent him quite a number of steels, never heard from him again. He gave a sob story that his father was sick in Greece, but he is back active on ebay again, but still no word from him. Just to caution all members...is he on HDN, btw?

You sent steels to a SELLER first! EEK! *facepalm*
Sorry Aprilarrow, but sellers are in it for the money. They are always trying to make a quick buck. You didn't ask if he was a ninja first? Well, I hope your situation turns out well.

Yep, my bad. I understand, sellers are in it for the money, and he did send steels for which I paid for, but where's the integrity in what he did? :(

I am not hopeful, it has been quite a while. Just hoping someone here knows him personally and knock some sense in him (though I admit it was I who had no common sense), or lives near him and knock on his door (I have his address, of course). ;)

If folks want to contact me via PM, I can try and help.

If a member here was in receipt of stolen items (basically items received in trade and never reciprocated or paid for), they would potentially barred from this site if they were not willing to resolve the problem.

You should report the listing to ebay and have it removed, showing them that he used your pictures to create the listing.
