Q) What is the purpose of this thread?
A) To discuss Ebay policies/issues

Q) Where can i find the Ebay Presale Policy?
A) Click HERE

Q) Can a HDN Trade mod help me with an Ebay sale/trade issue? Also why is there no 'ebay bad traders' list?
A) Simply put, no. To find out why, ensure you read the following spoiler:
please use this thread as a RESOURCE to ask your fellow members about problems you've had with a reseller or questions about e-bay.

do NOT use this thread to attack or refute other members. if you an e-bay dispute with a member here, perhaps it's best to approach a trading mod before posting? we don't police e-bay, but maybe we can give you a tip or two.

if members ignore these suggestions, then the thread might be locked for a couple of weeks.

thank you.

hey folks,

as a reminder what myself (and other mods) have continued to mention via private message, e-mail and other areas. we do NOT police other trading marketplaces like ebay, youtube, amazon and the rest.

there is ONLY a certain amount of information at our disposal and we do not have the resources in these other locations as we do on this forum - things that we can look at and evaluate.

having said that, there are trading rules on this forum that have been instituted for your own protection for trading transactions that happen HERE.

this includes the pending / active sales threads, the requirement of feedback posted for any new traders, our support ticketing system, the active investigations held by trading moderators and many other things we do not discuss openly.

we have long held that problems occurring on these other forums and marketplaces should be taken the appropriate authorities on THOSE websites.

many of you are established traders here on this forum and you should know all about the guidelines that are stickied in this section - including having new traders send first, getting tracking from the other party and proof of shipment, and what other precautions can be taken to protect your trading safety.

trading via ebay and their messaging system is against their stated policy and should not occur - and there are reasons why they have created that policy. you don't have protection of paypal or their listing system as a buyer or seller.

having said that, if there is trouble with an ebay seller or buyer, you should go to their website and report it there. if you are not aware of this process, follow the below link for more information.

http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/buy/report-trading.html

so folks can feel free to chat about a seller or buyer that they are having problems with, but I can tell you right now - there will not be a "witch hunt" by moderators or staff based on one person's account of the problems or trouble they are having - and we limit the action taken for or against members here to transactions that occurred on this forum.

as stated in the thread title of our bad traders list - that list is for FORUM MEMBERS ONLY.

thank you.
Q) Where can i find the HDN Buyer Beware / Bad Traders list?

I believe there are seller/buyers out there that abuse eBay and use it as a fishing expedition.

Any excuse to get the magnifier glass out and complain.

Negative Feedback

I received my first negative feedback today after 14 years of ebay selling! There was a dent behind the cardboard slip of a sealed Canadian "Blade" steelbook. I offered a partial refund (there was no way I could see it through the shrinkwrap) or another steelbook. At first the buyer responded in a friendly matter, but then all of a sudden the emails stopped. I sent another one and still received no response. Now, more than a week later he leaves negative feedback.

Is there a way to get the comment removed?

Should I have offered a full refund???

Lutzo you can ask him to change it but the chances are he won`t i wouldn`t worry to much about 1 negative feedback at some point every seller will get one, Its not like people will stop buying from you just because of 1 negative feedback. It only lasts a year us well.

Anybody know who donna29 is on eBay?
There seems to be a few pictures of steels she's selling taken from HDN. Plus I had to ask her to remove one of my photos a while back from her listing.

She also has JR and WIW Blufans for sale...

EDIT: Found out who it is guys..

who ?

just being nosy EEK!

Guys,

Got some questions.

I am selling my entire Harry Potter collection as I have decided to stick with the Boxset which contains all the 8 films.

I recently listed these 2 items and got a copyright violation notice from eBay within 2 minutes. I was on call with the customer support who said the Blu-ray is not Region Free. I told him they are of course Region Free which he kept repeatedly denying and warned me against listing these items. I told him that the copyright violation detection system needs to be looked at as it doesn't make sense for genuine items and listings to be a victimized.

310694783786 - Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 7.2 3D / 2D Blu-ray Lenticular Sealed

310694784671 - Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 7.1 3D / 2D Blu-ray
Lenticular Sealed

The worst part it could happen to any listing despite everything being genuine and could even lead to your account being restricted. Also there is no ombudsman to which we can report this which is a shame.:(

I think you should contact eBay and explain exactly what's happened. You described the condition as you saw it, you didn't lie and you offered a partial refund. Any reasonable person can see that you haven't done anything wrong.

Sadly these days eBay give buyers WAY too much protection which leaves honest sellers like us completely and utterly screwed.

Good luck mate.

Never heard of that before.

Maybe contact them again with the hope that you speak to someone with a little bit of common sense ;)

Or out them on the forums. I'm sure you'd be able to sell them.

Thanks mate. It looks like the Verified Rights Owner (VERO) has asked for removal of the listings. Looks like we should never tell the truth in eBay and mention only the title name and not anything else. How user friendly is that?

Customer support was as usual rude.

I got a copyright violation once but after the item was sold and paid for :p.

I found out that WellGoUSA asked eBay to take down my IP Man steelbook listing down because they considered it a fake. It was the German version BTW.

Funny enough I call eBay and they gave me the guy in charge of copyrights at WellGo and got this fixed pretty damn fast.

I am now scared to list in eBay due to the copyright violation message even if you speak the truth. I got a reply from customer support which was of course unhelpful. Think I will simply list the items without any technical specifications.

Think the Vero in my case is Warner Brothers themselves. One man against a big corporation isn't going to work I think.

Edit: Now I understood how to avoid the copyright warning. Do not specify Region coding or specify the one that is assigned for the country of origin. My last 2 HP 3D amaray listings were taken down as I specified Region coding as Free although that is 100% correct.

There are more from the same seller, buyers beware!

No offence to people from Hong Kong (I love visiting HK, personally), but these are probably sourced from China, and as I noted at the end of last year when I was in a big city at the outskirts of Shanghai, China for work, I came across a dvd shop that were selling a number of "fake" steelbooks...and I must add, they are very poor quality, almost like metalpaks.

haha.. Got my first paypal claim filed against me for a blu ray steelbook that I sold.
disc has grease finger print on edge of dvd. which in time will make movie skip and freeze up. how are you going to work this out.

my reply.
I'm sorry the disc had a finger print on it. They wipe off the blu ray or dvd very easily without scratching the item. If you still don't want the item, you'll have to return it for refund. It would have been nice to contact me first before making claim.

lol. dude never tried to contact me.

Now I think I'm being scammed. I offered 8$ so he could go out and get new(used) copy of the movie, to replace the disc with the fingerprint. He wants 18$, almost half the price of steelbook. I'm going to deny and make him send it back.

Damn $18!?!?!? For just some finger prints!?!?! Esta Loco el Cabron :D

I know, right? Claim denied. He has until the 21st to send it back or the case is closed. I try to be reasonable.. but he wants full value of a NEW combo pack.. not sure why he can't wipe the print off. Not sure if I should post username. Not yet maybe. We'll see how this plays out. I am blocking him from bidding on any of my things again however.

Some people will always try to take a chance. You have to be careful.

I purchased an item off a trader on Amazon who send me the item damaged and wanted to charge me crazy shipping fees to send it back ultimately defeating the purpose of buying it to begin with. He then ignored all my correspondence after pleading my concerns. Reported it to Amazon who gave me a refund.

I say absolutely. That behavior is appalling.

If he does some shenanigans, like ruining the package i sure will.. but if he sends it back and everything is like it was before I sent it to him I won't bother. Maybe just someone who doesn't like fingerprints.
