Q) What is the purpose of this thread?
A) To discuss Ebay policies/issues

Q) Where can i find the Ebay Presale Policy?
A) Click HERE

Q) Can a HDN Trade mod help me with an Ebay sale/trade issue? Also why is there no 'ebay bad traders' list?
A) Simply put, no. To find out why, ensure you read the following spoiler:
please use this thread as a RESOURCE to ask your fellow members about problems you've had with a reseller or questions about e-bay.

do NOT use this thread to attack or refute other members. if you an e-bay dispute with a member here, perhaps it's best to approach a trading mod before posting? we don't police e-bay, but maybe we can give you a tip or two.

if members ignore these suggestions, then the thread might be locked for a couple of weeks.

thank you.

hey folks,

as a reminder what myself (and other mods) have continued to mention via private message, e-mail and other areas. we do NOT police other trading marketplaces like ebay, youtube, amazon and the rest.

there is ONLY a certain amount of information at our disposal and we do not have the resources in these other locations as we do on this forum - things that we can look at and evaluate.

having said that, there are trading rules on this forum that have been instituted for your own protection for trading transactions that happen HERE.

this includes the pending / active sales threads, the requirement of feedback posted for any new traders, our support ticketing system, the active investigations held by trading moderators and many other things we do not discuss openly.

we have long held that problems occurring on these other forums and marketplaces should be taken the appropriate authorities on THOSE websites.

many of you are established traders here on this forum and you should know all about the guidelines that are stickied in this section - including having new traders send first, getting tracking from the other party and proof of shipment, and what other precautions can be taken to protect your trading safety.

trading via ebay and their messaging system is against their stated policy and should not occur - and there are reasons why they have created that policy. you don't have protection of paypal or their listing system as a buyer or seller.

having said that, if there is trouble with an ebay seller or buyer, you should go to their website and report it there. if you are not aware of this process, follow the below link for more information.

http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/buy/report-trading.html

so folks can feel free to chat about a seller or buyer that they are having problems with, but I can tell you right now - there will not be a "witch hunt" by moderators or staff based on one person's account of the problems or trouble they are having - and we limit the action taken for or against members here to transactions that occurred on this forum.

as stated in the thread title of our bad traders list - that list is for FORUM MEMBERS ONLY.

thank you.
Q) Where can i find the HDN Buyer Beware / Bad Traders list?
A) You can find the thread HERE

eBay will probably say: "Look, he already has 4 positive feedback ratings, he must be a petty reliable buyer"...

They actually sounded quite concerned - though whether they'll actually do anything is anybody's guess.

The eBay rep advised me NOT to leave feedback, as although the comments would be negative, it would look at first glance as though he had 100% positive feedback.

Of course if sellers were actually allowed to leave feedback, that wouldn't be a problem...!

I was told by ebay if a seller gets over three non payment against there account it would be closed he looks like he as four i got my account set up that blocks non payers over a six month period.

Guys, Add steelbook1 to your block list on Ebay, He's from Canada & just won an auction of mine & within minutes he want's to cancel the transaction because he doesn't read the listing on postage costs. I could go into more of the messages he's sent, The guy is a total muppet. Take my word for it & add him to your block list & save yourself a world of trouble

Here are list of ebay UK bidders that have won the auction, have not paid, and whats worse failed to even contact me or even answer any of my messages. Completely ignored :(

I have checked hassan's feedback and it shows that he has been busy buying after he won my auction so it's obvious he chose just to ignore the whole situation.

They have been added to my block list.

Maybe an honest mistake.. but lame. I would cancel, and then offer the "2nd chance"

This hassan-shouldjae2012 same problem with him

Another 1 to add to the list is classicchicken13. Complete and utter time waster.

That guy has won 12 auctions in less than a month and not paid for a single one of them. And yet he's still on ebay and allowed to have an account?!

Don't know about other sellers but I'm finding the amount of zero feedback timewasting deadbeats has risen alarmingly over the last year. It's gotten to the point that if a zero feedback bidder wins an auction you can be almost certain they're not going to pay. Ebay really need to protect sellers better.

You can also set up your account to not accept bids from bidders with x number of feedbacks, x negatives etc...Ebay's policy updates over the last few years definitely favor the seller...a fact that countless buyers protested very publicly, unfortunately.

Yes, but unfortunately you can only block bidders who have a feedback rating of minus 1 or lower. And seeing as sellers can't leave negative feedback, many of the worst timewasters aren't stopped by buyer requirements. They're very often zero feedback bidders. And sometimes even the same people just constantly switching IDs to circumvent any blocks applied on the basis of multiple non-payment strikes.

Pretty much all of the abuses are coming from zero or low feedback buyers who are immune to negative feedback. It's a pretty frustrating situation.

I spoke to an eBay customer service person last night and he said this option would restrict buyers who have a feedback score of less than 5.

Buyers who may bid on several of my items and not pay for them
Block buyers who are currently winning or have bought "x" of my items in the last 10 days.
Only apply this block to buyers who have a Feedback score of "x" or lower.
Consider selecting this requirement if you are selling expensive items and don't want to sell over a certain amount to any single buyer. Learn more about how this requirement works.

This will restrict the same non paying buyer from bidding on your items again.

Just had a new email from ebay updates more power for the buyer even less for sellers

As a seller – where you choose not to engage with the eBay Buyer Protection process on an item not as described case we may seek to carry out a reimbursement from you without requiring a return by the buyer.

Snagged a copy of the now quite rare Prince of Persia HMV Steel on Ebay during the week for a measly €20 & free shipping due to multiple orders (not really a fan of this type of film or Pirates etc etc. but I actually really enjoyed it). I thought it was a steal but I'm worried about the condition as I messaged the seller asking were there any imperfections at all, he simply replied, it's in very good condition and that he didn't list it as like new due to it being 2nd hand. I have a strange feeling I cold have a small war on my hands if I receive it this week damaged. I was assured however that his packaging is very secure. Picture looks fine so fingers crossed. I'm very worried however because I checked the sellers feedback both as a buyer and a seller and it turns out he bought this recently for €90!! I can only assume it was sealed and he's clearly offloading steels which he doesn't admire anymore.

Here is the original listing http://www.ebay.ie/itm/350857681216?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
