Q) What is the purpose of this thread?
A) To discuss Ebay policies/issues

Q) Where can i find the Ebay Presale Policy?
A) Click HERE

Q) Can a HDN Trade mod help me with an Ebay sale/trade issue? Also why is there no 'ebay bad traders' list?
A) Simply put, no. To find out why, ensure you read the following spoiler:
please use this thread as a RESOURCE to ask your fellow members about problems you've had with a reseller or questions about e-bay.

do NOT use this thread to attack or refute other members. if you an e-bay dispute with a member here, perhaps it's best to approach a trading mod before posting? we don't police e-bay, but maybe we can give you a tip or two.

if members ignore these suggestions, then the thread might be locked for a couple of weeks.

thank you.

hey folks,

as a reminder what myself (and other mods) have continued to mention via private message, e-mail and other areas. we do NOT police other trading marketplaces like ebay, youtube, amazon and the rest.

there is ONLY a certain amount of information at our disposal and we do not have the resources in these other locations as we do on this forum - things that we can look at and evaluate.

having said that, there are trading rules on this forum that have been instituted for your own protection for trading transactions that happen HERE.

this includes the pending / active sales threads, the requirement of feedback posted for any new traders, our support ticketing system, the active investigations held by trading moderators and many other things we do not discuss openly.

we have long held that problems occurring on these other forums and marketplaces should be taken the appropriate authorities on THOSE websites.

many of you are established traders here on this forum and you should know all about the guidelines that are stickied in this section - including having new traders send first, getting tracking from the other party and proof of shipment, and what other precautions can be taken to protect your trading safety.

trading via ebay and their messaging system is against their stated policy and should not occur - and there are reasons why they have created that policy. you don't have protection of paypal or their listing system as a buyer or seller.

having said that, if there is trouble with an ebay seller or buyer, you should go to their website and report it there. if you are not aware of this process, follow the below link for more information.

http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/buy/report-trading.html

so folks can feel free to chat about a seller or buyer that they are having problems with, but I can tell you right now - there will not be a "witch hunt" by moderators or staff based on one person's account of the problems or trouble they are having - and we limit the action taken for or against members here to transactions that occurred on this forum.

as stated in the thread title of our bad traders list - that list is for FORUM MEMBERS ONLY.

thank you.
Q) Where can i find the HDN Buyer Beware / Bad Traders list?
A) You can find the thread HERE

Received Thor Steelbook described as Like New in this condition.:(

Wish eBay sellers double check prior prior to listing or packing.

Becoming a pain in the neck to buy at eBay as having far too many issues in the past few weeks.

I now have to return the dented Thor at my own expense as seller claims the dent wasn't there and will check with Royal Mail although there are no signs of damage to the package and I am not sure if the seller has taken pictures from multiple angles to prove it.

He is lying imo. If package has no damage all those cant happen. No way.. It is getting harder to trust people on eBay nowadays.. Lots of misleading pictures and descriptions unfortunately..

Sorry to see that the item showed up in that condition. Hope you can get your money back as soon as possible..

Tell me about it. There are so many folks who become extremely defensive and rude the moment you notify about item not being as described. Even when you message politely you get an aggressive response. I have no other choice but to return the item at my own expense but this time I have to be harsh with my feedback.

Partial refund was offered but I denied as wouldn't want a dented Steelbook in my collection.

Going forward, I am going to do unboxing video on high value items instead of taking pictures to protect against standard defensive replies.

So I received my steelbook back. I checked the disc that had the fingerprint. It was just a partial fingerprint on the very edge of the disc. I wiped it off with no problems. Not sure why the guy couldn't.... he kept calling the item a DVD too.. I'm not sure he knows what he was buying.

So now I get an email to my Gmail addy.. not through paypal saying he wasn't refunded the entire amount and I owe him 9$.. Paypal shows a full refund, and he said he contacted them and they said the same strange amount was refunded to him as well(or so he says). Nothing has come up through official channels tho.

I think he's still pissed he had to send it back at his own expense. Also I re-read my listing, thinking i listed it at like new.. i listed it as "Good" so I didn't even need to take it back.

ok..help me out with this one!

Haven`t sold for ages on ebay and now this issue.

I received my paymanet july 5 and send out the steels july 8. As agreed I send out using normal priority airmail. I send from my country (Sweden) to the buyer in USA. I took a pic of the package and of the receipt. The pic of the package had no stamps because you can`t take a pic after you handed it in.

Today I receive a claim/case against me on ebay. He says it´s been around 20 days and he has not received the package, he wants a full refund.

I reply that it has been 18 days, that I think he will receive it, that I send hom pics etc and also wrote that after I have handed it in at the post office I am no longer accountable. I mentioned that he also had an option for insurance.

Right now the money is "locked" on my paypal account during the "investigation".

Ok...of course I think he will get the steels, but let´s say that he doesn`t. What can happen? I have no intention of giving a refund (we are talking IM1 and IM2 sealed/mint here) Can ebay rule in his favour or what? Any thougts??

Unfortunately Ebay mostly rules in favor of the Buyer in case you have no tracking to provide. No tracking means no proof to them.
The last time I shipped something on Ebay without tracking, and it was after the Buyer specifically requested the cheapest way, I had a case open against me within a week and lost it.

Holy crap...I think you are right, because I just read the same thing on ebay forum/help. Now I really hope this is a stand up guy and let´s me know when he receives the steels and after this I will not ship without insurance...no way!

Ooh buddy! You are going to lose. Insurance isn't required by the buyer to purchase. You CAN add it to the final cost(in the handling charge portion), but there isn't an option anymore as it's your responsibility to insure it and make sure that the buyer receives the item.

That being said, it does take a long time for priority mail to the USA from Sweden.. use My experience as an example for the buyer. It took about 4 weeks from that company to me using the same method.

The buyer would be entitled to a full refund if you cannot PROVE that it was delivered. This is signature confirmation of sorts. Something that they have to sign to receive the package.

Keep trying to work with the buyer, once the claim is escalated, it won't take long to do.

Also a tip.. I insure anything over 50$ regardless if they pay for it or not. This is to protect ME, not them.

Hooch, there should be a label number of some sort-can you track it at all, to see if it entered the US? I know some can't be tracked, but maybe that would at least show if it left your country?

Nah, it´s just stamps and a priority mail sticker on the package. There was also a green sticker for us customs, don`t know if that had some numbers or nor.

Well, well....it´s only money!:p

Will keep you posted, he has untill 31 then he can "escalate" the whole deal. I just hope he can hold on at least a total of 4 weeks..18 days is alreday gone.

Hooch if you can't prove delivery to this person's location, then ebay will rule in their favor and you will lose the case.

If you want, send me a PM, I might be able to give you more details about the trader if he is known to us.

For us in the UK if an item is sent air mail, Royal Mail offer a refund of up to £20. So if the value of what your sending is less than that, then you should be covered.

Anything over this should be sent recorded to protect yourself as the seller.

Hopefully Swedens postal service has a similar sort of refund service.

Golden rule for selling on ebay NEVER send any thing UNTRACKED you leave yourself open for untrustworthy buyers.

been stung myself sending items untracked, lesson learned !!!! i even sent e bay a copy of the printed royalmail label i printed through paypal via e-mail but the buyer still got his money back :(

yeah, lessons learned even if he does get the steels.
nope, no tracking - no refund from postal office here.

Thanks guys!

Short update...he answered polite that he could wait 4 weeks, then I´ll have to give him his full refund. Well, well....we will see.
