Q) What is the purpose of this thread?
A) To discuss Ebay policies/issues

Q) Where can i find the Ebay Presale Policy?
A) Click HERE

Q) Can a HDN Trade mod help me with an Ebay sale/trade issue? Also why is there no 'ebay bad traders' list?
A) Simply put, no. To find out why, ensure you read the following spoiler:
please use this thread as a RESOURCE to ask your fellow members about problems you've had with a reseller or questions about e-bay.

do NOT use this thread to attack or refute other members. if you an e-bay dispute with a member here, perhaps it's best to approach a trading mod before posting? we don't police e-bay, but maybe we can give you a tip or two.

if members ignore these suggestions, then the thread might be locked for a couple of weeks.

thank you.

hey folks,

as a reminder what myself (and other mods) have continued to mention via private message, e-mail and other areas. we do NOT police other trading marketplaces like ebay, youtube, amazon and the rest.

there is ONLY a certain amount of information at our disposal and we do not have the resources in these other locations as we do on this forum - things that we can look at and evaluate.

having said that, there are trading rules on this forum that have been instituted for your own protection for trading transactions that happen HERE.

this includes the pending / active sales threads, the requirement of feedback posted for any new traders, our support ticketing system, the active investigations held by trading moderators and many other things we do not discuss openly.

we have long held that problems occurring on these other forums and marketplaces should be taken the appropriate authorities on THOSE websites.

many of you are established traders here on this forum and you should know all about the guidelines that are stickied in this section - including having new traders send first, getting tracking from the other party and proof of shipment, and what other precautions can be taken to protect your trading safety.

trading via ebay and their messaging system is against their stated policy and should not occur - and there are reasons why they have created that policy. you don't have protection of paypal or their listing system as a buyer or seller.

having said that, if there is trouble with an ebay seller or buyer, you should go to their website and report it there. if you are not aware of this process, follow the below link for more information.

http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/buy/report-trading.html

so folks can feel free to chat about a seller or buyer that they are having problems with, but I can tell you right now - there will not be a "witch hunt" by moderators or staff based on one person's account of the problems or trouble they are having - and we limit the action taken for or against members here to transactions that occurred on this forum.

as stated in the thread title of our bad traders list - that list is for FORUM MEMBERS ONLY.

thank you.
Q) Where can i find the HDN Buyer Beware / Bad Traders list?

Is this the thread what posts which ebayers to avoid ? Sorry not been on for a long time and selling my collection of,just don't want to end up selling to dodgy people cheers all :)

They ask for receipt of what you paid and the seller page as well

Clearly states on the form they will only refund the cost of what you paid not what you sold it for

This is not correct. I have never been asked once by Royal Mail to prove the actual cost I paid for the item.

When I sell something for X, I show that someone has paid me X by attaching the print out of the eBay order page and PayPal invoice alongside printed proof of posting or bulk certificate of posting form, and photos of the package.

Same here. I've only had one thing ever go missing. I printed off the ebay page which showed it as sold and proof of payment from paypal. I also photcopied my receipt with tracking number (this also had the cost I paid for postage). I added a very polite covering letter and they refunded me the price the item sold for and the postage.

Check the claim form

one of the items you must submit

Original proof of value ie till receipt bank statement see section 8

Section 8 you can claim the actual cost it cost YOU to acquire, purchase or manufacture

then it shows an example.

I'm not disputing what the form says but from my singular experience I got the full amount that was paid to me plus the postage costs.

Beware of this Buyer : nmo2012 on Ebay uk.Waste of Time-doesn`t pay the Item he won

Surprised about this buyer not paying. He has always checked out with me and I'm talking high value.

Send him a message mate or open a unpaid item case

Has anyone ever had any success claiming from Royal Mail without the original postage receipt?, obviously the tracking information is available but it does clearly state you need to send the original proof of posting :tear: i had all of the stuff ready to go the other day and i think the kids may have napped it or it's got lost.

I noticed the ebayer mentioned most recently (nmo2012) and my first lost tracked package is also with that user, coincidence? Probably, but he was still trying to buy items from me when these 4 went missing which i found strange. Also he was trying to negotiate a different steelbook from me during the claim process under 2 different ebay usernames. I found out as his 2nd ebay name was his 1st ebay usernames registered paypal email address. Kick in the nuts now that i seem to have lost the receipt to claim for only half of the value i lost anyways. I have also never witnessed anyone open up a claim via ebay so quickly but that could be normal practice.
He is a member with no posts here and i would like to say this isn't an accusation! A very nice learning experience going forward and i would like to say thanks to him  I banned him from bidding on my things just to be safe.
