UK VERSION EDITED

PLEASE BE AWARE that the Movie version for the UK was changed from the 18 certification to an edited version to receive 15 Certification. This affected the theatre release and also impacts all blu-rays/DVD copies of the movies for the UK. So if you want the unedited version of this movie make sure to look into Other country releases where Unedited are being offered in the full Uncut version.

Precuts information

During post-production, the distributor sought and was given advice on how to secure the desired classification. Following this advice, certain changes were made prior to submission

Note: The following text may contain spoilers

This work was originally seen for advice. The company was advised that the film was likely to receive an 18 certificate but that their preferred 15 classification could be achieved by making cuts to reduce the violence in two scenes. When the finished version of the film was submitted for formal classification, edits had been made to reduce sequences of violence, including detail of a stabbing with a corkscrew and a garroting. The formal submission was consequently rated 15.

The 2 cuts are only a few seconds long
Total cuts is 18 seconds and you barely notice that cuts were made when watching both USA and UK versions
The cuts are so minor it does not affect the film when you view both cut and uncut

UK Blu-ray 2 Hours 11 Min 44 Seconds
= 131 Min 44 Seconds

USA Blu-ray
2 Hours 12 Min 02 Seconds
= 132 Min 02 Seconds

Film was passed uncut by the BBFC 18 cert
The film studio wanted a 15 cert so 18 seconds they cut to get a 15 cert

The decision was Sony UK alone just so it could be seen by younger audience
IF Sony UK wanted to release on Blu-ray the uncut version they could have as it was already passed by BBFC with no cuts required

It's exactly what I copied and pasted from the BBFC website so they are no contradiction in what I copied and what you wrote back'' again from what I copied from their website ''...The company was advised that the film was likely to receive an 18 certificate but that their preferred 15 classification....

now whether or not much or little was edited, it is up to the buyer to decide what he prefers as a copy of the movie; some people have mentioned that they did not want the edited version so I posted the information as it was asked in a few threads.

Fine it's already been discussed and answered in the thread by me and others already a few weeks ago

I and others already posted what you posted this morning a few weeks ago you must not have been reading the posts on page 10/11/12/13 lot of us already discussed the cuts in detail and what versions are cut and not cut and why it happened and I already posted exact details then from BBFC website a few weeks ago

But it still good to post info if you don't know its already been discussed

Back to the Steelbook
It's still a good film and the Steelbook looks good photos also a few pages back

Yes I was not following this release, it was on another thread that this question was asked a few times so I decided to post the info here also just in case as it is the main UK release... I was only trying to be helpful and of course it is so time consuming to go back in the thread to read if it was already discussed.

I myself would have wanted to know this info so I just wanted to pass the message. I apologize for the redundant info, I just saw now that it was discussed a lot, I should have look first but didn't think about it.

But yes it is a very nice looking steelbook, much nicer than the WWA

How good is the quality of this steelbook?

Which finish have this steelbook(matt finish, zero finish, zero finish with spot gloss, high gloss finish)?

I bought this with the discount code yesterday, but I still think I will prefer the french steelbook I picked up for £13 to be honest. The artwork is better. And they're both gloss fnish steelbooks.

Interesting you like the art choice voted the worst when the original competition was open. Zavvi version is firstly world excusive and in hand far superior, with the second winning art choice on the back and excellent debossing. The French/Canadian version is quite simply a disaster with bad photoshopping lol

Oh is it ??

Well as I said, I got both any way. Haven't received the Zavvi version. But when I do i'll decide on which one to keep and which one to return. I wouldn't had bothered with the Zavvi version but the price plummeted from £23 to £13 (typical zavvi) out of nowhere and then we were treated with a 15% discount code yesterday thanks to someone sharing it.

I guess I'm the minority but I prefer the other artwork to this also.

Zavvis may have debossed title but there's nothing of interest on the back and the inside art is black and white.

French one has coloured inside art and is all round more solid artwork IMO.

Urgg, I hate zavvi for this silly price changes. I hope they change the price back to 13 pounds or lower.
The film is cut and have no german audio. :-(

Personally, I prefer this artwork. The normals artwork shows only Danzel washington. Wow, very creativen -,-

But he in the blood looks more atmospheric and symbolic.

By the way, I hope the upcoming Ghost Rider and Terminator 3 Steelbooks are also debossed....please Zavvi/Sony... please!
