Seeing all the videos... yeah, j card is going off for me. It's uglier than whatever black stain that stays there. Shame they're using glue though. For a premium edition it has some pretty cheap solutions.

Amazon emailed me to tell me there was a delay with dispatch, so I cancelled. Just got caught in the hype of ordering it to be honest

Shame because if the glue marks didn’t ruin it, the folded/ ruined edges of the purple box looking tacky and the cost was a bit less it could of been worth it. I’m 50/50 with it because it had more potential and the weight feels good. Also not a fan of the grey ish faux leather

wow what a way to ruin this edition.. imagine them going out of their way and ship them out in prepacked carboard boxes, then ruin the best part of the edition with glue dots... bunch of scrubs, really

It’s blown my mind. Because the packaging as mentioned was great. A thick white box inside an brown Amazon box. Really well packaged...... But hold on they can’t have it perfect can they, these idiots paying £70 for a semi decent faux leather slip... let’s add glue, 4 of them to be exact and let that grease up the f**king faux leather

btw thats a barnes-noble leatherbound book for like 30€ shipped... surely those stingy movie companies can add something nicer than this fauxleather stuff for 70GBP (i.e. 80€)

I didn’t realise that you can buy that bfi book for £11 so if you add the cost of an ultimate collectors edition that’s £14 for the slip and case. And I suppose you get a decent slip with the UCE so really it’s £14 for the purple clam shell. Has anyone got the glue off using heat without the stains?

Hello.

I’ve been drawn to the forum by this thread after doing searches on the deluxe edition and seeing what must be one of the more poorly executed exclusive 4K release. It has been an absolute shocker for Amazon. It’s difficult to believe that this is actually their profession.

I’ve read threads of people who legitimately ordered it when it was available to buy and now being told it’s on back order with no delivery date and scalpers now selling five or ten physical copies on eBay.

Now the weird glue issue. Why do they do that? I guess they never get the movie lovers and collectors around a table and ask them how they can improve.

Thanks for the insights and updates. It has been really useful and informative.

Cheers.

Ray

I didn’t realise just how awful and strong that glue is. That’s terrible. Just spotted on a new eBay listing. They probably want their money back though I’m sure Amazon would accept that as a return, no?

To echo an earlier post, I really wouldn’t recommend pulling the card off in enthusiasm and glee at finally getting you hands the set. I would have been nightly saddened if that had happened to me.

The thing it’s an extra process to do that and has a cost, maybe not much but why oh why do it at all when it will prompt returns and stock returns.

What would happen if you use a hair dryer on the jcard before taking it off? Are those spots residue from the glue or actual stains from the glue?

I always warm the j card from the outside a bit then try and get the warm air to go under the card to attack the glue from there. The spots of glue become very soft eventually and just give up. Never had any residue left personally but maybe it’s to do with the finish they have used. If it doesn’t come off easy it’s not ready. I did ask if anyone has removed without stains. I’m sure I saw one photo set that looked ok; I could be wrong.
