I still think zavvi know better than that too. They’ve made changes over the years like the Disney (collection) steels, gloss etc so I think they would put their foot down on gloss too. Especially after the comments with Rambo
You'd think wouldn't you.. evidently not. Gloss does take longer, a fair bit. It does cost more too, but apparently not that much.

I'd probably put it down to time restraints, whatever deal they struck with scanavo, or simply that they'd placed the order before rambo feedback was received.

Especially after the I hope many comments after Rambo. I was incredibly vocal about it. Hell it caused me to cancel the deluxe version, which I regret.
I mean, if it's gonna sell out anyway, then they're obviously not gonna bother putting the extra effort in for a good finish. Unfortunately the hobby has become more about having what's rare than what's actually nice nowadays... if collectors stood together and refused to order such lacklustre items then I'm sure we would've gotten somewhere by now.

Yeah but in the description they put so much emphasis on how premium the outer boxes are, and the perfect photo frame and everything else, but as I said with the rambo, the actual steelbook should be the centrepiece. It is infuriating in a £100 set.

Yep, if the steelbook is a crappy finish, that's it, mine is going on sale. I've no time for crap finishes on expensive premiums.
Look at Manta, BluFans, Nova etc. There's no need to cheap out on gloss for this. The colours need to shine.
Hopefully it will be spot glossed or something..

I'm in the minority, I suppose, but I couldn't care less about the steelbook at all, they can take it out entirely, put an amaray in, or no disc at all, and I'd still buy it. Like one of those Doctor Collector sets. Those usually come in a tin box, which I would actually prefer to these cardboard ones with 'cookie cutter' finish. Gimme an embossed tin with that beautiful artwork, throw in a bunch of stuff, keep the movie - I have it 20 times over - and that's it!

A nicely embossed tin would be lovely. I love my Band of Brothers, The Pacific and Breaking Bad tins.
I might sell the steelbook and stick an Amaray of the 4k in the slip. Claw back some money and buy something else.

Mind you, we still don't know. Heres hoping it's nice after all

Why don't we get matte steelbooks like car matte paint? That would be ******* amazing.
We do, when they have a gloss undercoat. Matte or "satin" over gloss is beautiful. Lovely feel and finish. Similar with matte or satin alloy wheels, beautiful look and feel. It's when you have a cheap matte layer over bare metal that you have the problem.
