Just a suggestion, @dirtyoak you might not want to want. It doesn't sound like 2 and 3 have much of a chance of being made in the US. If you're willing to, read the books. Otherwise just watch the Swedish versions and, if Fincher makes the other 2, enjoy comparing/contrasting.

For my money, the US release is an incredible film and I've really heard nothing but bad things about 2 and 3 of the Swedish trilogy (changes from the book, things being revealed much sooner than they should be, etc.). This Japanese steelbook is incredible and well worth the price it's at now. It oozes quality and it outshines several of my Kimchi and Blufans releases.

Yep the 2 sequels in the Swedish version are beyond bad. Personally I know a lot of fans of the book and they all prefer Finchers version. Rapace was so bad in the role and got it so wrong that I now detest her as an actress and every time I see her in anything I just get angry and have to leave the room. Wasn't looking forward to Mara either to be honest but she utterly owned the role. Any other film now without Mara is inferior as far as I'm concerned.

As for 2 and 3 in the US Sony will at someone point make them after paying several million for the script. Rooney said in Feb it was a no go, then in March both Sony and Fincher said it was going ahead, so who knows. I just hope Fincher, Craig and Mara get together and finish it and make the DEFINITIVE versions, instead of rubbish made for TV movies.

Whatever happened to the U.S. Sequels?!?

Sony was expecting the film to make upwards of 400million when it made less than 300 they put any sequels on the back burner. They do that a lot now. Amazing Spider-Man 2 fell into the same boat, didn't make what Sony wanted so in this case it worked out and Marvel got him back into the MCU. Sony aren't interested in making a successful film, they want what their grubby little analysts tell them it should be making. They have already paid out several million for the script to part 2 so it will be made at some point but whether that is with Craig and Mara or a complete reboot who knows.

Sony made the mistake of releasing it at Christmas, when most people venturing to the cinema want feel good films or fantasy "LOTR, Potter etc" If this had been released in Feb/March it would have made more cash, because the general response by fans and critics that saw it was nothing but praise.

Sony's got to be, hands down, the worst studio out there. They have no idea how to treat any of their properties, yet they somehow have involvement with some of the most creative people in Hollywood. They take a creative idea, milk it for every dollar it's worth to produce sequels then destroy it.

I've used my Amazon account in Germany,France and USA, but Japan didn't recognize my account, so I missed this:dunno:, regarding the film, I totally agree with @psychoscot, amazing film throughout and that includes the opening credits with Atticus Ross/Trent Reznor's cover of Immigrant song, didn't see that coming at all.......

I know there have been many setbacks and very little progress on the sequels but I'm still holding out hope and seeing as Fincher's version is close to being in my top10/20 of all time, I'm strongly considering waiting for them before I watch the swedish versions.

Btw I'd just like to say that I'm a big fan of Noomi Rapace in general and am looking forward to seeing what she did with the character when I eventually do see them.

Same message here too. Not surprising really.

I got this reply from the customer service :

"First of all, please let me apologize for any inconvenience caused by the arrival delay of the item you ordered.

I have checked your order (#...) and have learned that this item "【Amazon.co.jp 限定】ドラゴン・タトゥーの女 デラックス・コレクターズ・エディション スチールブック (2枚組) [Blu-ray]" is now back-ordered, and our supplier has not been able to let us know exactly when they expect to have more in stock.

You can still see this item on our website, however, they are sold and shipped by Amazon Marketplace Sellers (third party sellers). Since they are not our stock, we are not able to ship it to you.

We will keep this item on order and ship it to you as soon as we are able to obtain it. We will not charge you for it until we ship it to you. On the date of shipment, we'll send you an e-mail confirming the date, contents, and method of your shipment.

You also have the option to cancel the order.

As a compensation for the inconvenience, I've issued a 300 yen promotional certificate to your Amazon.co.jp account."

:facepalm::mad:

Last time I got one of these emails from Amazon.jp, my order was eventually cancelled as they were unable to get any more stock :blackeye:

Got that same message from amazon u.s. when I ordered watchmen ultimate cut blu ray on a daily deal and the order sat for almost a year before I cancelled it. I think its there way of telling you "we don't have it and you ain't getting it from us."
