There is no guarantee an extended edition will be a better movie. Don't get me wrong I loved this film, but I'm not sure it could benefit from being any longer, especially as we have another two movies to go.

I found that when I watched the Extended LOTR's that because I had not read the book's so much was explained in the films.

I have read the original Dracula Bram Stoker and Precious Bane Mary Webb but the dialogue in the Fellowship beat me on Chapter 4 Mushrooms .

To my shame I gave up so for me any extra information will be gratefully received.

I'm not fussed about 3D, plus I want to support UK steelbooks as much as possible after everything that's happened recently, so will be getting this one over the others.

There will no doubt be plenty of chances to get a great looking edition/set for this once the extended edition is released... and not to mention a complete trilogy set when all the films are finally released.

I'd guess at it selling out. It's an Amazon exclusive and will be selling worldwide to fans of this franchise, even with other releases being offered. Better to order and then cancel it if you change your mind

I get that but most of the extra info can not come fom The Hobbit book itself, since it's not as extensive as the 1500 pages of TLOTR
As an Tolkien adept I'd welcome any additional scene, but now that I have watched the trilogy so many times, I usually play the theatrical cuts when I feel like seeing them again. Or sometimes even just the highlights.
I'll wait until all three movies have been released, but it's hard to resist that Put inside basket-button!

The price has to drop £20.29 is silly money for a steel with no 3D and IMO poor artwork. If it wasn't from the UK I'd stay away

With all the steelbooks just coming out in the UK at the minute I'm very torn on what to do with this one. Missed in the cinema but heard good things and I quite like the artwork. With the Skyfall stock numbers acting so strange I just hope this doesn't go OOS too.

Yes, but not deliberately poor though...I'm not even going to bother getting this unless there is some kind of special embossing / slip

^^ Embossing would be awesome but if not i'm kinda screwed because i'm far too picky to let the french and german text slide on those editions :tear:

Anyway i'm pretty sure uk consistently got the worst versions of several worldwide releases last year, and now seemingly the same here with The Hobbit. This is what makes me wonder if it's deliberate, in some corporate/marketing BS way.
