The UK usually gets the same (or near enough) actual steelbook as other countries. In this case, it seems that a lot of countries are getting different versions of the cover allowing purchasers to get the one (or all) they like the best.

At the moment we're just getting one option and assuming the final design looks like the mock-up then I agree, it's not as nice as others on offer but does at least have English text so it's a trade off I suppose.

As for disc contents, the UK does often get the short-shift with many steelbooks being 1-disc and dropping the DVD, 3D version or both. Why there can't be more consistancy I don't know and of course there's always exceptions.

I have decided to cancel this, too higher price for a 2D steelbook with disapointing artwork. I have the UK 3D lenticular slip cover, and the French 3D Lenticular Steelbook still on pre-order. I am waiting nearer the time to decided which one I will go for, to be honest the French one is nice, but is it worth spending £35 on it, especially when an extended edition is on it's way?

So far have Gollum steelbook, Uk Steelbook French 3d Steelbook and now mexico Steelbook is tbc, god help me want to cut it down to just 1, but don't know which.

48fps 3D is a whole different story. That is a total of 96fps, which will require new hardware Designs in the player and Display.
2D on the other hand should be fine with a firmware update as long as you Blu ray and TV are from the new crop of products available this year.

To answer your question the blu ray of The Hobbit will not be 48fps. ;)

It would have been better if the back art was the front art.

I will get the extended version of this movie too, but I don't want to miss out on this steelbook especially if the extended version is not as good. 3D I could take or leave. Lord of the Rings did not need it, and neither does the Hobbit. Anyway I am sure the Extended will have a 3D option.
