The staff wouldn't be camping this thread working damage control if this was as simple as something dropping in price.

Comparing this to cheap, German steelbooks that often have multiple print runs getting reduced is extremely disingenuous. This was a title that at one point, they declared to be sold out. It's a catalogue title, that was sold at a price 20-30% higher than a brand new release steelbook would normally be sold for, on the basis that it was a limited worldwide exclusive classic Disney title.

And now it's just some trash Zavvi need rid of. Zavvi have burnt a lot of good will today, and it's not like they were a popular company to start with.

Ashcroft-the decisions leading to excess stock lies with them, period-not us. Unlike other sites we are paying attention to how much things can degrade, and that is why the Staff cares to respond.

Feedback is read at this site and passed on to a number of retailers regularly-this is no different. As we have always said-the retailer should always be working to improve processes, service packaging , pricing etc, etc-everyone has seen the effects clearly when that doesn't occur-for YEARS and with multiple retailers.

We always speak up when threads degenerate like this-it poisons things unnecessarily which we want no part of in this community.

Retailers get beaten to a pulp regularly-and the moaning and drama often gets out of hand as it is now in this thread.

The comparison to German Steels was not disingenuous. It was decision to decision and clearance to clearance. Whether there were x initially or a smaller x and a reprint-the fact that they often end up getting clearanced because there are too many or the Steel is just bad is a practice many retailers have followed. The customer still exerts their power and the retailer still needs to respond-or get punished for it. Song's been playing for decades, so no one is shocked that it's Zavvi's turn to get raked over the coals.

Not sure the folks who own this particular Steel either at full price or at 9.99 GPB would say it's trash, but if a price drop or these circumstances make that be true for you, that of course your prerogative. But it wouldn't be the first or last time an item is sold cheaper than it originally was-happens every single day for a variety of reasons.

I myself bought my JB at full price and I couldn't care less if now it is 9.99 GBP-I already chose to purchase it back then, and if someone now gets a deal on it so be it. Supply and demand at work.

Very nicely put some of this and I agree too. I also purchased at full price and was happy with that, I don't care at all that some folk can now get this for whatever price, why should I, I have my steelbook, price drops happen its a fact of life, everybody quit moaning and attacking retailers for doing business and move on.

Sheesh, all this commotion over a price DROP. Some people will complain, if you're nice enough to give them a rope to hang themselves with. I was one those poor bastards that ponied up 23 quid for my 2 copies. 23 quid equates to roughly $35 Cdn dollars, roughly what FS Disney costs anyways. At 10 quid, theres absolutely no reason why people who don't have this already should not get one. But I do sympathize with a lot of collectors out there, who do not collect for value. Paying more than double, just a few short months ago is rather upsetting. I Can understand how some of these people feel that they were Freejacked by Zavi. But those of you who kept your sealed, I wouldn't worry. By next year, you won't be wondering if this title was worth the 23 quid investment.

At this time, this is what the collection looks like thus far, all in one pic that I just created as a quick view-for anyone who likes to see what they look like in a set. Also added to 'Disney Collection' thread.

Thanks db. That image is all it takes to test my not so iron will. I was quite happy ignoring planes, until you posted the collection group shot. :p

I'll just return my £9.99 copy when it arrives now. Thanks Snoo well spotted:thumbs:

At least I'll have another chance of getting a mint copy now as well.

Yeah, I've alerted Zavvi about this, given all their pages still say 9.99, it's not worth spreading this 'hack' that will get folks order cancelled.

And you thought people were upset about a price DROP ;)

Just because you put your order in the system doesn't mean the retailer will honor a price like that.

We'll see what Zavvi says about this one then. This steel has giving us so much to talk about, it's going to be a real shame when it does actually sell out. :D
