isn't the flexibility and thickness always a problem of frame-embossed steels?

I find as I get older flexibility and thickness is always a problem.

I was going to swap out the disc for a US region A but the German disc has the sheriff badge artwork and the US region A doesn't.

I wasn't going to buy any other versions as I thought the movie was merely ok and the Gold steelbook excellent, but the Ray Owens sheriff badge looks nice...and then again so does the Czech steelbook. Surely I'm not going to buy another steelbook of an average movie...am I?

Looks incredible and I wish more steels were of this awesome quality. Germany got the back of a steelbook right! Clean, awesome looking artwork. I would have been all over this, if not for all the German text all over the front and inside.

I realize this is a Germany release, but these steelbooks sell and trade worldwide, and honestly any foreign text pretty much ruins a steelbook for me.

I think every steelbook should be printed in only it's native language (the language the film was shot in).

If I wanted to buy a movie that was shot in German language, I would have NO problem at all buying a steelbook with German writing on it.

Inglourious Basterds could be a good example since there was so much German spoken in the film. (Almost as much as English)

Anyway... that's my take on this Last Stand Gold Edition. Super nice looking steel though, no doubt about it.

That wouldn't be possible though, the steelbook releases have to cater to the market they are selling to. I expect a German release to have German text like an English Steelbook has English text. Regardless of where the film was shot the people who are buying it need to be able to understand it, I don't think people would take kindly to going into their local store to find a Steelbook full of text they don't understand!

I understand what you are saying, but then again, if those people don't understand English.. what are they gonna do when they press play on the remote? Just enjoy the subtitles? Listen to dubbed audio?

Hey Manonfire, I would check with member masterblaster who had a group buy open a while back. You can find the group buys in Steelbook Trading area.

I'm sure a lot of people do listen to the Dubbed versions/ use the subtitles. That's why the majority of the time there are so many Audio options on the discs.

I'd say in Germany about 95% of the people are listening to the dubbed version only. This is how people are introduced to movies here and that's why kids in Germany don't learn English as effortlessly as kids in the Netherlands or Scandinavia do and they usually have a very thick accent as well... is that a good thing? No, of course not! Does it explain why MM and other German companies put German words on their steelbooks? Of course it does! Does Media Markt (who do NOT ship to anywhere but Germany and Austria) care about international sales and collector's that they make NO MONEY on? What do you think....

Now that kind of makes sense why the MM titles are in German :squint:

But how about the rest of the the German titles and retailers especially Amazon.de that get majority of their steelbook profits from the international customers? Maybe they should at least start having the text in English :ohno:

That would make sense-but the Germans always had their German Titels even back to the good old Days of VHS Tapes:D
