I find 3d excellent for watching the odd blu rays in. I wouldnt watch 3d all the time but when you have a decent setup 3d is remarkable.
agreed.
Titanic, TLK, BATB and Avengers are 4 movies I often watch, AND in 3D as they look stunning. All but Avengers still take my breath away with how well some of the shots look.

does anyone know if this is going to be embossed?
probably

you've clearly not seen how well Disney did with The Lion King and Beauty and the Beast then ;)
(for serious though)

I'll check it out then. It's more from a dislike for point of view. Active and passive, I just don't like the feel of it and find it mostly implemented for higher cinema sales and mostly gimmicky.

For 3D I prefer the subtle implementation of the effects like in Prometheus and Man of Steel. I don't like the 3D which is in ya face.

I understand if your setup is good to great that 3D is nice, but for me its not an essential purchase or call to action for a cinema ticket.

Disney and Pixar have done a tremendous job of creating 3D movies. And I expect nothing less from them. With the right 3D set up, it definitely enhances the experience of movie watching. I for 1 can't wait to upgrade my Epson 8350 to the Epson 5020UB.

Come this Black Friday :)

I took screengrabs from The Little Mermaid's dvd restoration, and a clip from the upcoming blu-ray restoration so we can compare a bit more. Bare in mind that they both come from relatively LQ videos from Disney's website, but still, the colours look dramatically different. Really excited for this release!

EDIT: I should mention, the picture on the left is the old restoration, and the picture on the right is the new release.

fai enough, each to their own :)

but I highly recommend you check out both Disney Hand-Drawn titles. I was beyond sceptical about how 3D would work with that style of animation and almost dismissed it - though out of curiosity I went to see The Lion King at the cinema, and was pleasantly proven wrong; it was stunning and added another layer to an already fantastic movie. I was so impressed, I then craved for my own home 3D set up (up until then, it was something I'd go to the cinema for then settle for 2D versions at home)

I think I prefer the image on the left :hilarious:
