for most people upgrading there 1080p system to 4k with be inevitable over the next few years, i will be doing this myself just wasn't on planning of having to buy hundreds of movies again in 4K that is going to cost more than the AV equipment. Because as soon as the 4k versions of the films become available to the mainstream, people are not going to want the 1080p version as much anymore.

I know this discussion has been had a million times already. But I have to disagree about people not wanting 1080p. I really can't see what benefit films like Shawshank Redemption, The Godfather, Goodfellas, Casino or any film of that era will have being re-rendered in 4K. Only films coming out now will benefit from 4K and may be a handful of films like Tron Legacy, Avatar etc. And then you also have issues with 4K showing way too much detail where it just looks outright fake.

I'm all for buying a 4K version from now on, but I certainly won't be replacing any of my previous films unless some one shows me a frame by frame comparison of how much better it is.

The jump from SD DVD to Bluray 1080p was huge. But the jump from Bluray 1080p to 4K not so much. Unless you have a 65" TV in the living room.

Sorry was just killing time waiting for the release

Just a quick one to end. I'm glad you said Goodfellas, I watched the 40th anniversary edition a few weeks ago remastered from 4K scan and down scaled to 1080p. The difference is like night and day, the overall picture is wicked and the colours just pop out at you, I would never watch the the older version again. I would also bet that there is a 4K version coming soon, who wouldn't want to own that full film glory. Same goes for bad boys 1 & 2 newly remastered. So I think there are a lot of older films that will be remastered for 4K some good and some bad. The new 4K discs have high dynamic range, so even on smaller TVs the picture will be better because the colours will be more realistic.

So back on point the Martian steelbook package, looks the dogs nuts to me and have one on order for myself, I just wish I could get it with the 4K version, maybe it's something that FAC can look into the near future or already have on the cards , I'm sure there's going to be high demand for them. Both versions in the same steelbook bluray + 4kbluray or leave a empty space in the steelbook so you can add the 4K disc if you want at a later date. Future proofing.

When do I know if my payment went through okay? I thought the deadline was March 4th. This is my first time buying from a group buy so kinda anxious to know if it went well. Thanks.

You're still on the GB list, usually Karel will list members who he is awaiting payment from so it's safe to assume it went through successfully. :)

I'm getting excited about this one now.

Is it the next FA release? Not sure what their schedule is.

Current Release Schedule if no delay Occurs
(but Keep in Mind that once it is released, Karel has to Drive to Prague to go get the Items so that can also affect time frame)

Edward Scissorhands (March 14)
The Martian (March 21) numbered + Unnumbered
Everest (March 30) numbered + Unnumbered
The Last Stand (April 11)
Love, Rosie (April 18) (ed1, ed2, ed3)
Black Mass (April 29)

This is a very tight schedule and I do expect delays, unless FA are really on top of their game and are following
the new release schedule that was announced for this year.

It looks the slip for unnumbered version looks nothing special hope numbered slip is not as plain.

FAC always make stunning Fullslips with many different treatments and material used. Its never just a picture on printed carboard. I'm sure with finished pictures/or in hands, we will see better by then...

I hope so. 'Cause for Exodus it WAS indeed just a picture printed on carboard...

Exodus may have been just a picture on a printed cardboard, but also to this date I think it is the most elaborate Package they have made in terms of Bonus Items... Plus it was still early when they all started the FAC line.

Also, even if it would be just printed on Cardboard, FA always find a way to make their products High Quality, Exclusive and Well sought after for many different reasons.
