For anyone who is interested, we used an agency called Oink for the four upcoming steelbook releases. (Amelie, The Mist, Bronson and Ghost Rider) The spec was to create something different and fresh for the titles, and not be lazy and use a straight theatrical adapt. They are all hand drawn pieces of art, specifically created to compliment the steel. Hopefully if these prove successful there will be more steel books in production using similar styles of artwork. We (Entertainment One) are personally very happy with the results. As a studio we have a lot more planned... (Walking Dead's are planned next)
Really looking forward to seeing how this wave turns out, especially Amélie & Bronson.
Adrian from eone directed mention that they used an agency call Oink which can be found here http://www.piggy.co.uk/bluray-steelbooks
Here's the artwork that got rejected by the studio for Limitless, Dallas Buyers Club & Lost in Translation.

They all look horrific, I wish they'd they stop using that company and just use normal poster art![]()

Love those, especially the Lost in Translation one... that thing is gorgeous!I remember him showing us he Dallas buyers club and I wasn't a fan but I'd be all over that limitless and lost in translations art on steels!
Wtf were the studios thinking
Also lost in translation has a blade runner feel with a bit of old boy
@Noodles check out what the studios turned down lol (bar Dallas)

Agreed. There's actually already a steelbook (I forget which country) that uses the poster art, so that option is already out there for those that want it. There's also a nice Canadian steelbook, so that's another option for those that don't like "proper" art. Personally I think it's nice to see something different being attempted... or at least they tried to anyway. The poster artwork is awful for limitless compared to that mock up. Like incredibly boring awful. Each to their own though
Totally agree mate. Something's seriously wrong when the artwork makes Lost In Translation look like Blade Runner!!!!They all look horrific, I wish they'd they stop using that company and just use normal poster art![]()

Shame, I personally like all of the above mock up's, @Flloydo do you remember our chat about an Inherent Vice Steel?, had to do a double take on that Limitless mock-up.
I really like the 3 that were not approved, the one I'm not sure on is The Mist, the one that was approved LOL...Yeah I do, I'm still so gutted we never got a steel for that. Maybe kimchi blu or plain archive can one day but it has to be with the art we discussed that is pretty much the poster art or one of them as they all have that simular style and beautiful colours.
Or that art that's on the inside of the ammray with the girl laying down on her front.
I even contacted Warner about that but got knowhere lol
