So, we have the "Fake" and "Steelbook Price Drop" thread, but we don't yet have the thread where you post listings with "crazy" prices for Steelbooks. If you see any, post them here and have fun debating. As per forum rules, please remain respectful with each other-one person's "high price", could be another's "deal of a lifetime" score. Enjoy! :scat:

Please keep discussion to Ebay and other retailers, not private sellers.

Not that high though, they sell for about £180 for the 3D and £150 for the 2D, and there are a couple up atm for around those prices, so I don't know how this seller expects his to sell.

its too high i agree with you...but the way i see it...1) he takes a risk putting it that high for god knows how low the chance is for someone to actually buy it, and he is making ebay rich by constant ebay fees :p 2)anybody can put all they want...the ''stupid'' are those who buy so high.. ;)

Thats a poor sale. Just shows in general steels are getting peanuts on bids. Too many releases the money is shared everywhere. Stick with one release is my advice these days.

I second this opinion mate. No more multiple countries' release of the same title for me too, just the one which I fancy. Now, the difficult part is which country to keep. I do have a preferred pecking order as a guideline...

1-2 versions is the most I am going for, considering there are like 5-10 other releases lol.

We all have to take a gamble which is the rare or grail one from the bunch. For me now I go for a UK steel to open and watch because its cheapest (well not for long the way prices are going). If I get an alternative copy I wait for you to get your multiple rare ones and then you can source me one for a good price of course :scat:

You don't need my help, mate, you have a proven track record and a knack of getting rare steels. :scat:

The Asian steelbook market reached a new low.

Link

There is a reason why. The person is from a differenct country along with the fact very little selling from the person and they don't use their own photos. I have asked him over and over to stop using my photos in his listings. It takes a long time to build up trust on ebay. I know that. :hilarious:

It still cost $20 to get it to the states anyway so its not like a person would be paying $3 or free shipping.

You would never see prices like that from a trusted member. I stopped doing auctions on my mint stuff. Why bother.

It goes both ways on auctions. You get lows and highs. I don't guage the market by auctions as they are generally loss leaders. BIN are the true gauage of the market. IF they sell at BIN prices then that is what you go on.

Auctions have many factors to go on. TRUST is the main one. When people have feedback under 1000 it is gonna hurt the auction. Ones from Asia even more so.

I imagine on ebay you can find good deals on cars as well. That doesn't mean its the current market. Its gambling. If you have all the time in the world to do a case against someone then more power too you. MOst people value time and want a great experience 100% of the time. That is why a lot of people only buy from trusted sellers on ebay.

I just sold a steel for over $200 and I have seen auctions on ebay recently for as low as $50. Does the low price dictate the market? Heck now. Some people on this board are in a joined effort to try and bash the Asian steelbook market so they can get in cheap. Its fairly obvious just by reading this thread who they are. They bash and buy the same steel at the same time.

I'm not sure the seller knows the steelbook game too well. The Cloverfield steel he's listing was originally advertised as a blu-ray instead of a DVD.

Personally, if I ever see a seller using someone else's pics in their auctions I take no further interest in their items. How difficult is it these days to take digital pics? If someone is going to be lazy from the outset then it doesn't bode well for the service you're likely to get. IMO.
