So, we have the "Fake" and "Steelbook Price Drop" thread, but we don't yet have the thread where you post listings with "crazy" prices for Steelbooks. If you see any, post them here and have fun debating. As per forum rules, please remain respectful with each other-one person's "high price", could be another's "deal of a lifetime" score. Enjoy! :scat:

Please keep discussion to Ebay and other retailers, not private sellers.

That was no shill bidding. That is my listing, I was going to cancel the auction because I knew this guy was full of it and wasn't gonna pay. Ebay told me I would have to pay final value fee of the amount it was currently at. I refused to do that and was going to just open a non payment case. This morning I received payment for the steelbook!
Took pictures of packaging and made sure I used international express to ensure it showed delivery confirmation.

I apologise. Simply going on many many auctions like this that has happened before.

Great to hear from the seller in cases like this too. Goes to show there are some buyers on eBay who just don't have a clue. Hope it all goes well for you because that is the most I think this will ever sell for.

I don't think it's amusing. If you had paid eBay prices for this and now prefer the look of this version, you would be feeling pretty crappy right now. No-one likes to feel that they have wasted their money. Personally I own the UK version which I got for a very good price. I think this doesn't live up to the hype, so I'll be sticking with what I have.

Possibly. Though I think if someone is prepared to lay down £40.00+ on ebay this must be FAIRLY happy with what they are paying for regardless of whether other versions eventually appear. Let's be honest with yet MORE versions of Iron Man on the way I don't think collectors can rule out any film getting more than one steelbook anymore. Even the original Robocop will have two for some reason.

I wasn't saying I was laughing at the misfortune of others who HAD bought the UK steel - as I'm sure they paid what they could afford and felt was reasonable. Plus, the vast majority will just see this as a chance to own TWO versions, ha ha!

Now I don't mind the UK steelbook, had a chance to get it but I have no interest in the film and the design was a bit bland. Whereas this cover, with the two rivals side by side, seems a lot better than the bog standard red cover and says something about the film.

I probably still won't get it, but it's a nice design for sure.

Or it could be in fact, they missed the original UK steelbook (or even worse, decided they wanted it because it got valuable), and aren't willing to spend £50 for it, so they'll settle for this one. This one is just going to go around in circles, and is all speculative anyway.

Bottom line, if you like it, buy it. I don't, and didn't need to "search for arguments as to why this is inferior", it was a very easy decision for me. Now go and enjoy your dirty brown steelbook! :p

rush uk is selling nowhere near 50GBP (last TEN sales @ ebay were < 30GBP; ppl asking ridiculous overprices are hardly an indicator for its true value) and the kimchi version will be more expensive in total

but of course its a perfectly valid opinion to prefer the uk version, but its rather silly to state as a fact that the UK version is BETTER than this just by this mock-up (i know you didnt do that, but another member was)

The cheapest I have ever seen a new/sealed copy go for since OOP is £33 delivered (at auction). The average price is now £40, and I have seen them go very near to £50 on a few occasions. This one is now at £35.50 total with 1 day still to go. Also, if you want to buy a new one today (buy it now) it will cost you £50. There's no point comparing used prices.

Yes, that's true. This version will cost at least 50% more than the UK version at release. And that's not a good thing.
