So, we have the "Fake" and "Steelbook Price Drop" thread, but we don't yet have the thread where you post listings with "crazy" prices for Steelbooks. If you see any, post them here and have fun debating. As per forum rules, please remain respectful with each other-one person's "high price", could be another's "deal of a lifetime" score. Enjoy! :scat:

Please keep discussion to Ebay and other retailers, not private sellers.

Wow. Here is the problem with this: yes- there were only 100 made. And yes- they don't come up on ebay that often....However- the fact that I have bought TWO of them on eBay in the last 6 MONTHS at well under $1000 apiece, makes the claim "You will never see these for sale anywhere" a HUGE lie.
Good luck getting $2900.00. Or pity the guy that pays that.

Need I remind you of the principles of democracy?
Everyone is free to sell on ebay what he wants, as long as it is allowed. If someone sells Editions acquired through a GB, he should be banned from GB. Otherwise, it has the right to buy one edition to the official reseller and sell it on ebay.
Otherwise, we can start by quoting Filmarena which increased John Wick Maniac Box by 1000 czk. Is it not enjoy the collectors?
This is becoming informers and it bothers me DEEPLY.

Certainly the moderators and community would love a thread that encourages accusations, shaming and bullying!

I have had to use ebay many times to obtain rare steels as I came into this crazy game late. Of course it has its place. Where would we be without it. Only recently I bought both Everest and The Martian HDzetas from there. I have also had to pay £100 + on here for some gbs like Frozen Ultimate Edition, so personally I think everyone should take stock before ranting and raving about ebay when it happens on here too

Chill guys, I was only suggetsing that we name and shame those on eBay who go about these forums (and not just this one) buying up as much stock as possible and then sell them for crazy prices on eBay and making a huge profit from collectors who are deperate to get a release. I for one don't agree on charging double the cost price of a release! And when I say name and shame I really mean find out who they are and ban them from the GBs if they are found to have aquired like 10 copies from multiple forums.

I agree that people should be allowed to sell their steelbooks on ebay, sometimes you get bored with something or want to sell something to raise cash for a release that you prefer, thats all fine but going around exploiting peoples hard work on these GBs and then exploit the collectors as well, I think that's wrong!

Name and shame is a waste of time as these individuals have many handles and I bet they know every trick under the sun to keep on getting their hands on as many copies of the limited editions as possible.

That will eventually sell.

I'll tell you why ...

1. People are uncomfortable buying from GB's / foreign websites.
2. People do not like pre-ordering, so it will sell if in hand
3. People are terrified of custom charges
4. Buying off ebay gives you comfort knowing that if the item doesn't arrive / arrives damaged it takes 10 seconds to open a return case
5. Not everybody knows about filmarena / asian retailers and how to get involved in buying an exclusive item

although it most likely is somebody out to make a buck, you never know, somebody might have honestly wanted it for themselves but were unable to cancel after a change in their personal circumstances, leaving them no alternative but to sell it. at a high mark up.

is this being naive?

I wouldn't say you are being naive. There is definitely a chance that could be the case, and I'm sure it has happened.

But this guy, deffo a scalper, just look at his feedback.

And there is another one now selling it for £200, and guess what, his feedback suggests that he's a scalper too!:squint:
