So, we have the "Fake" and "Steelbook Price Drop" thread, but we don't yet have the thread where you post listings with "crazy" prices for Steelbooks. If you see any, post them here and have fun debating. As per forum rules, please remain respectful with each other-one person's "high price", could be another's "deal of a lifetime" score. Enjoy! :scat:

Please keep discussion to Ebay and other retailers, not private sellers.

Or when you trade someone at a collector's rate, then they flip it on ebay for profit as soon as they receive it. Yes that grinds my gears. Probably never going to get Public Enemies Steel, Thanks Biscuit.

I would never deal with that person again if I found out they did that with any of mine in a trade or sale.

Totally agree :scat: Why should I sell/trade and that person flips the following week on eBay. I could do that but do not.

That's not what I'm hmmm'ing but anyway. Congrats on a successful strategy by that guy. Whatever it may have been

I'll put my Star Wars with film cell up. See how much that goes for :hilarious:

I reckon it's only a couple of winning bidders for the whole collection and hence the premium prices.

Sorry if I got you wrong  Yeah, good way to end collecting...Good luck to the seller :scat:

It's certainly smart to sell all of these at the same time, so there is lots of attention on these! I think this guy is not a collector, but just a dealer. He bought that Resident Evil from me for 70 UKP 6 weeks and now sold it for 91 - well done! Either way, he certainly had some great items on!!!

Yeah. Could post everything he has for sale in this thread. But. He still seems to sell quite a bit so good for him

I'm not too sure why there are a few people complaining about the prices dovastypo72 sold his items for, "record prices" last time I checked, not really. Tranformers ROTF goes for that price all the time on ebay.co.uk, Star Trek is currently up for sale for a higher price USED on ebay.ca etc.

Oh, and I also agree with DJ, thanks to whomever it was that decided it would be a good idea to post a link to one of that guys sales, that really helped me out trying to win items I had been watching for 2 weeks, very much appreciated :scat:

I know she is a member of this site, and a lot of you are probably friends with her, but this crap annoys me. Members should not be allowed to buy so many copies of such a rare movie, then try and sell them for such a ridiculous price on eBay. I wish there was a rule which restricted members to a maximum of 5 copies from any GB. When members use a site aimed at aiding the collecting community, it shouldn't be abused to allow it's members to rip off their fellow collector's.

Apologies for the rant, but I am 100% certain that I'm not the only one who feels this way.

wow, she has 10 copies? I don't believe she bought it from a GB here because they had a 1x or 2x limit.

What annoys me is that so many ebay sellers have a buy it now at such a ridiculous price. Many don't ever offer their items for auction and I watch to see if they sell any of their items at these ridiculous prices and they dont'. I'm sure some do, but when I sell an item on ebay I can't stand having it just sitting there. I want it sold, so I always do it for auction. I let the market determine what the going rate is for my items.

I don't have any control over what someone else wishes to sell their items for but I do get really annoyed when I see only very high priced "buy it now," items. To each his/her own.

Roverite-we understand your concern. But in reality, this is nothing new-Group Buyers do restrict sales, for 'limited' items, but if they are able to obtain enough copies for members it is up to them, if they wish to do so. Posting a thread like this, inadvertently leads to some 'bad feelings' in regards to several aspects of collecting. Our purpose of doing so is to allow members to openly share items they see, with others, who can make their own judgment.

As you can see by the group buy lists, the 1st priority of our Group Buy sellers is to make at least 1 copy of any item available to as many members as they can comfortably cater to, in terms of their time, and ability to source them. We work with all of our group buyers (who have a set of rules), to be sure they are not overwhelmed or taken advantage of (members have very occasionally gotten rude, when the group buy leader refused to become an Ebay supplier), and in turn we expect everyone that uses this site to sell their items, to be fair to our members. If problems arise they are addressed and resolved.

As far as this seller-she may have sourced them from multiple sellers-there is no way to tell, or the GB seller here had other copies, and chose to make an arrangement with her. There are plenty of people that are members here that are Ebay sellers, and there are various ways they are obtaining numerous copies for resale. While most members are looking to purchase for their own collection, some are also purchasing for reselling to subsidize the relatively high cost of collecting Steels (import, damages, etc), or have businesses where they resell. And that is their prerogative. We also suggest that members here who also sell on Ebay are aware of the fact that selling items at very high prices will cause some bad sentiments-but it is their prerogative how to set their prices on another marketplace.

Please remember that this thread is to point out high prices on Ebay (the definition of 'high' can vary member to member as some of these assessments are 'subjective'. Feel free to do so, but we ask that you do not 'bash' individual sellers-after all you are free not to purchase from them, if you think their prices are ridiculous.

Unlike some sites, we communicate with all of our members regularly and are always open to feedback. Please feel free to also PM any of the mods with concerns, and we will be happy to discuss any matters with you offline as well.

Thanks all,
DB

Absolutely agreed with your rant bro, but it's at the discretion of the GB host on who gets to participate in each individual GB. Nothing we can really do but not buy at ridiculous prices (which I'm sure none of us would be desperate enough to do since we have so many amazing members here at HDN from all over the world.) Maybe the best thing we can do is get more new steelbook collectors here on HDN and teach them how to find great deals and establish the best connections possible. This would prevent a lot of ridiculous purchases on eBay.

But even without the GB's, if someone is around long enough, they'll have ways to obtain multiple copies of any release when they are initially released.

But it is, at least, ballsy and truthful to have the same name here as on eBay if you're just in it for money.

There are bigger rip offs in the real world for things that are important rather than just a hobby like steelbook collecting.

This is just my opinion of it all. As thunda said, to each their own.

Hi Slimjim-well said. One of the goals of HDN as the # 1 Steelbook site, is to provide as much education in the way of threads like this, the Steelbook Price Drop thread, the FAQ thread and many other threads (such as a thread to post fake, doctored releases (see 'Resource Thread' stickied in main Steelbook forum), etc as we can. Our members are incredibly helpful in at least trying to save new collectors from getting hosed or taken advantage of. And thank you everyone for chiming into all of our threads to do so! :scat:
