So, we have the "Fake" and "Steelbook Price Drop" thread, but we don't yet have the thread where you post listings with "crazy" prices for Steelbooks. If you see any, post them here and have fun debating. As per forum rules, please remain respectful with each other-one person's "high price", could be another's "deal of a lifetime" score. Enjoy! :scat:

Please keep discussion to Ebay and other retailers, not private sellers.

Need some advise here, as I think I have been conned!

Damn, really sorry to hear that. :( Sounds like Cartman69 (post #2402) is in a similar situation.

Sadly these auctions had all the hallmarks of being scams, but I can understand how easy it is to get carried away when you find a grail steel. It's characters like this seller that we should really reserve the term 'scumbag' for.

That is completely false, unless it just changed. Paypal cannot pull money from a credit card or bank without authorization. I speak from firsthand knowledge on this fyi.

Paypal pulled money from my checking account a few weeks ago without ANY authorization when a scamming "buyer" claimed he didn't receive the item. (He actually had the exact same item for sale a few days later, but claimed that he bought it in a store and paypal believed him. At least he didn't use my ebay photo :hilarious:)

I'm not sure how it works with fake paypal accounts, but when I created my account years and years ago, there was a transaction from my checking account to the paypal account that had to go through before I was allowed to use paypal...

Even if you use paypal, didnt you use visa or mastercard? If you dont get the money back, you can always contact them.
Done that. Visa helped me. Paypal didnt

There's also a waiting period where paypal holds the money. When I sell something on eBay, paypal holds the funds for up to 21 days before allowing me to move it in any way.

Just to clarify, and this comes from Paypal, what people have said on here regards refunds etc is incorrect. I have spoke to them today and they confirm that they will close my case on Monday and issue a full refund regardless of the sellers account. The sellers have until then to provide a receipt to confirm sending items (which they have not got)

So everyone be careful and if you require any other details please PM me.

I am happy to hear that, mate! :scat:

Moral of the story? Stick to £10 steels, you can't go wrong! :D

There is an IM FS on eBay. I think kafi is quite a well known seller on eBay.

No morals, while i will be getting money back on Monday, cost me money off work as waiting for post, my fault but need to sign, not having them keep a package for days!

If they withdraw the funds from their paypal account as soon as you send it to them, even if you win the claim, zero funds in the account means that there is nothing for paypal to give back to you.

It was all concluded outside ebay but with Paypal Goods where fees were paid so I am sure I am covered?

in regards to those comments, if the seller has an unverified account, or he withdraws his funds immediately, then paypal will still give you a refund and leave him with his paypal balance negative, theres a full buyer priotection and the seller is not covered in these scam cases...he is only covered as long as the buyer claims ''item not received'' and the seller provides a valid tracking, in the case of payed via paypal and item collected in person, seller is still not covered so watch out!!!

The values are of the Asian steels have dropped quite considerably in the past few months. Even the so called Snow White Korea with red slip sold for a considerably low price.

I was shocked to see the entire MI set (1,2,3 play.com and 4 China - 2 disc BD) sell for 45 including shipping but the play.com MI4 alone goes for 25+ consistently. This is why I keep saying I have lost faith in the hype surrounding the Asian Steels and you have a 70-30 chance of getting them at eBay for a lesser price.

EEK! Prices are lower on ebay than on here. That's a fact.

The Asian steels have not lost that much value. Your taking the extreme prices on ebay. You can do that with any item on ebay on a given day. I sold a Korean steel last week for $250. I paid $30 for it. So does that mean I should take that extreme price and say prices are on the way up?
