Well, just when I was worried about Zavvi's packaging, I came home to a box of The Pianist full slip (and American Psycho). I've never seen a package so beat up and a steelbook so damaged. I'm devastated :(

The box looks like it was opened at some most likely at customs and resealed

Was the box delivered in that condition to inside your home or was it left outside
Was it signed for in that condition

It was left outside so it was not signed for. I use K-Packet and I never have to sign with that.

K-Packet is registered post and needs a signature

Why on earth would your postman leave outside EEK! left out in the elements and risk of animals causing damage or theft happening
Does your postal system allow parcels and post be left outside

In Rep of Ireland that's not allowed no post can ever be left outside of a home
The postman/Courier must attempt direct delivery and it must be delivered in person to someone at the address and are not allowed ever to leave outside
If no answer a note must be left and customers then goes to post office to collect or contact courier to rearrange delivery

I had delivery from Kimchidvd and was K-packet and had to be signed for as it was registered post

the good news is it is still available to order from kimchi (the pianist)
the fact it has the straps around the box should tell you this is the work of post office/customs, clearly acting the pr**k

I sent a note to Tony to see what I should do. I can return it but it's good for garbage.

I never have to sign for my K Packet packages. They've always left them at my door and prior to this package, I've never had a problem.

Really sorry for your mate; I know how frustrating it is to receive damaged items.

Your local post office don't know what they are doing when leaving the parcel outside your door; KimchiDVD K-packet is a tracked, signed-for ("registered") service. Any post office in the world should understand this.
Wikipedia said:
In most countries, the use of registered mail require labels with a 13-digit reference number and corresponding barcode. The first two letters indicate registration (usually "RR") while the last 2 letters usually represent the country where the registered item was posted

Your parcel may or may not have been opened and repackaged on the way; as has been mentioned, KimchiDVD doesn't use those plastic bands. Or it could just be that a post office worker has added them for holding the parcel together after noticing the badly damaged box.
