Dont see what the massive fuss is about.
picture doesnt look great but its hard to tell from it how exactly it will look, plus i didnt think the mock up is the best looking steelbook i have ever seen. will wait til i have to have it in hand to judge the look of it. but as this is a steelbook i bought to watch the film and sit side on in my shelves i wont be looking at the art work i dont really care too much anyway.

The people claiming the colours 'cream' or 'white' were never mentioned are missing the point. The picture looks that colour and people have made orders on that basis. Zavvi have sold steel coloured steelbooks like Shutter Island etc so can clearly show a picture that is an accurate representation of the product in question.

The picture they choose for this, mock up or not, is misleading. As it certainly looks like a nice mix of white and red (like the poster) and a lot of people ordered it on that basis. I've never seen the film but liked the artwork so much I took a chance, now I wish I hadn't and many feel the same.

It's not hard to make the mock up look silver, at all.

Zavvi have a stock photo of the actual item for Shutter Island. It's not a mock up. (They weren't even on the scene when that was a Play.com exclusive)

It's easy to display a photo of an actual item as opposed to something in production.

I think the solution would be that Zavvi update their pics to actual photos of the item once they have the final product and they know what it will look like.

Before it goes to the packaging phase.

This is the kind of thing that annoys me about Zavvi (and to be fair, at times other retailers) I commented on another thread about products being constantly sold with only concept art or 'artwork subject to change' disclaimers right up to release, this is yet another example of a steelbook thats in the mail to folks and yet there is still no 'real' pictures on the website of what your actually buying, retailers seem to think the word 'Steelbook' is enough to sell something, Im sorry but when your asking me to pay £15-£20 for a steelbook I want to know what Im buying!

I dont want this to be another one of those 'Im out of the steelbook game' type posts but its things like this that just get me frustrated with the whole steelbook collecting thing, I shouldnt have to rely on 'insider info' from folks in the know with contacts within Zavvi or pictures on forums to find out what Im actually buying (the info and pictures are appreciated though so thanks to the folks who do provide them)

To cut a long rant short, Im kinda glad I cancelled this as it looks like it could be a bit of a damp squib....

Little disappointed this won't be matte white like Eureka's Silent Running and Two-Lane Blacktop but not disappointed to the point of thinking of sending it back. Should arrive in the next couple of days and I hope someone can take some better photos of it, but for now I'm not that upset - remember the back will have red lettering on it too. Or it should do unless Zavvi change that as well!

For a double play, just over £15 for a new release was a good deal. It's also the third best film I've seen this year so far.

I thought they were going for the whole black-on-white thing because Luke's bike in the film is white and black...but yeah, it could still look gorgeous you can't really tell from that grainy phone picture...

Yah so basically that pic looks NOTHING!!!! like the mock up. What on earth is going on with these people? How can they think the steelbook community would accept that crap. It's incredible. I have one of these on order too.

So disappointing. Like making out with a girl and you feel the Adam's apple.

aaaannnnnd.... you've had this happen? :ugh:
