It seems that Play.com exclusives are no longer exclusive. That's quite a few titles that have been announced as Play.com exclusives only to appear elsewhere shortly after.
Elsewhere as in not in the same country. They don't have the slogan worldwide exclusive. I don't see how Play.com can stop other countries releasing similar steelbooks, usually just with the outer artwork and no embossing (terminator releases -Germany).
Unless they have a contract with Scanavo and/or the studios it would be very difficult to enforce. But also bare in mind many of the people buying these are not collectors, they probably don't know there are similar releases in different countries, for these guys at least, they remain exclusive.
