Mine arrived today..... not been this impressed with a steelbook for a hell of a long time!! Play knocked it out of the park with this one!

Just received mine and it came complete with a few scratches/scuffs under the j-card (both front and back). This is the first time I've not been completely happy with a steelbook from Play.

I'd definitely be returning it if it wasn't for it being OOS. But just to be sure... does anyone know if there's any chance of them being able to replace damaged copies?

Hope mines is in mint condition, I got Forrest Gump but that's going back on monday due to a paint defect, so fingers crossed The Raid is in mint condition

Fingers crossed for you mate! Thankfully mine came without the slashed spine, but instead it came with even more slashes on the actual steel itself lol. Glad to hear you eventually decided to return your Gump steelbook by the way... I wouldn't have been able to keep it if mine arrived like that.

If that's the case, then I'd definitely rather keep it than receive a refund. To be honest, the scuffs on the back aren't that noticeable as they're on the metallic part... it's the scratch on the front that bugs me, as it's gone right through the black paint. I'm tempted to go over it with a black marker or something, but I'm afraid that might just make it look even worse.

It's most definitely a manufaturer issue. I have the same but seems less visible than yours. I wouldnt make much fuss over it. It is a true beauty!

I can't believe the price of this on eBay. I did not expect this at all. The last few have sold for around £40 + postage and I think the price is only going to rise. I think this one is going to be one of the most expensive UK Blu-ray Steelbooks so far. Definitely a possible £100 + in my opinion. The only thing that will stop this is if the other versions are anywhere near the quality of this one, but I can't see that happening.

Yeah I was going to keep it but everytime I look at it I see that deffect lol, as for The Raid if it does have any imperfections I'll still keep it cos I won't get another seeing as it's OOP now.

Lots of people reporting minor defects then? And even slashed spines? Thought only HMV were guilty of that nowadays? My copy arrived with a slight dent along the top width but not much I can do about it now it's OOP, used to double up to cover possible damages but since Play change their packadging I haven't bothered with the exception of the Iron Mans, oh well

Ah in all honesty I've got to say I agree with you there, didn't look so shiny in the posted pics, when a steelbook is silver or 'grey' as people sometimes call it, just shows the steelbook for what it really is;a fancy looking tin!

Not so much, which should i watch, but which one first???:movie: I have not seen either of them, but it was tempting to watch a pirate "deeeveeedeee" over the last few months, but i didnt wanna spoil my enjoyment of a crisp, sharp Blu, so i was strong.(just).
Love the de bossed apartment building windows in The Raid.
Both in great condition.
(Is that new packaging from HMV, i`ve not ordered from them in ages).

That's standard HMV packaging they have used for as long as I have been buying Steelbooks (a couple of years). They temporarily used jiffy bags (and still occasionally do) when they were moving warehouses though.
