Alright, so on my way to work this morning, Rudolph decided to take the leap of death - right in front of my car:mad: I live just outside of Richmond, so the first part of my trip is a two lane rd. Well, at the spot where I hit the deer, it opens to two lanes on each side divided by a grass median with concrete edges. I'm in the left lane, nobody else around. The deer starts to bolt out of the woods and since there is nobody next to me and it's pitch black outside, I don't see him until his head is 2 feet from my headlight.

I was only able to swerve a tiny amount becuase of the median, but his chin still hit my headlight and broke it out. That whipped his neck around and his shoulder crashed into my front passenger door. In turn, that whipped his ass around and it just anihilated my rear passenger door. Then his body and antlers slid down the side of the car and REALLY crunched in the rear quarter panel. Both door handles broke off and lots of my paint has been replaced by deer hair. The dents are HUGE, there is no popping these ones out. I'm fairly certain they will have to replace both door panels and the rear quarter panel.

I couldn't see if he died or not, there was nobody behind me so there was no light in my rearview mirror. After I stopped the car and saw how bad the damage was, I would have been happy to finish him off if he didn't!!!:mad::mad::mad::BS: Damage update to follow, hopefully the insurance guy gets to it today.....

Get pictures!

Don't let the deerrorists win!

P.S. That sucks bad about your car man... hope the insurance guy does you up right

sounds like they will total it....

btw, cali, dont be talking bad on the ragin cajuns lafayette LOUISIANA! :scat: I worked there for a while when I was oil riggin' .. damn good food down there!

Dam that sucks :(

And in case some people didn't know, if there is a deer in the road and there is no way to avoid it, hit the gas! No joke. Damage to your car will be greatly reduced. When you births brake your car dips and ghats when the deer goes into your car more. Accelerating will have the opposite effect. He'll like rollover the top. I even had a friend who said it worked in his situation. Kinda funny lol. He said when he hit it, it rolled over the top and e saw a hoof fly off and there was deer pellets all over the hood. Only damage done to his car was the windsheild and scruffed the paint a lil but no major damage.

sorry to hear about you wheels man. I've hit deer before and it sucks. I just always thank whoever is listening that it wasn't a moose. we have alot of moose up here and if you hit one of those you prolly ain't gonna survive. I actually came within 20-30 feet of one a couple weeks ago on my 4-wheeler. scary ****.

It was a good sized buck, but nothing near a moose. That would have been nuts.... I haven't even heard a word back yet from the insurance appraisal guy. He was supposed to come to work today, and I get off in less than 1.5 hours. Plus I'm supposed to go out of town tomorrow AM, I have tomorrow off and everything. Funny how these things always happen at times like this:rolleyes:

I definitely lost this one:( It's an estimated 11 day repair and insurance only covers the rental up to $600... no way that will last 11 days. Add that to my deductible and I'm looking at waaaayyyy too much money and inconvenience becuase of some frackin' deer....

The rental cost depends on the car's size and the rental period. Renting a subcompact can cost $38 per day while a full-size van costs $140. It's generally cheaper to rent for a full week than it is to rent for five or more individual days. For example, a subcompact costs $190 for a five-day rental, while a one-week rental runs $152. Most websites automatically calculate the best rate depending on the days entered. However, you might need to ask a phone agent for a weekly rate.

Good ole Mazda 3 Hatchback... you should stop Zoom Zoom Zooming.

New update*

I got the estimate, just over $4500, and that's if they don't have to replace the inner shell of the back door... I think they will but I'm no insurance handler.

Anywho, my brother called me on saturday and said that while he was on the way to work he saw a deer with one antler in the same area that I hit a deer the other day. I bet it was that same bastard, it might be time to take up hunting:twisted:
