Yep, it was dull, matte finish, and the slip was the worst and looks like the ugly duckling from the rest. Doesn't even fit in a steelbook protector case either. Doesn't matter how good a movie is, if the steelbook is crap I just get rid of it and wait for a re-release like we have now which turns out to be the same anyway! But at least they fixed the slip cover this time and the Lenti will probably add some uniqueness to this. One of the few occasions I support a re-release when the original is appalling. Nothing against the others who likes it, each to their own and I am glad you like the original.
Fits nicely into a case here! I think the front artwork is gorgeous. Sure it's matte but I don't mind that occasionally. One man's junk is another man's treasure n all that lol.
the german steelbook of dick tracy is still available fyi i also saw few rocketeer steels left in my local media markt. price was around 15€

Well, wasn't expecting this one at all and was thinking of releases with the 3D discs only - now looks like the gloves are off and everything is fair game
THE ROCKETEER - clearly following in the footsteps of MONSTERS,INC with the same front art as the original . . . not a bad idea in this case because it's a first class image and if done right will make for a stunning lenticular and even more so if it's true, as reported, that the upcoming wave of lenti steelbooks has been postponed by Disney until the issue of the badly sized magnets is fixed.
Unlike MOSTERS,INC, however, this new one appears to have the same back and inside art which is not cool as different art would have called for a definite double-dip on my part.
Stunning poster design, though, making for a super elegant steelbook with that certain period feel of the *"Metropolis" steelbook and even of *"The Iron Giant" poster/Blu-ray:-
(No IRON GIANT steelbook yet !!!!????)

The original release was really cool. The only way this would be an improvement is if it had a high gloss finish.
That is the only reason i would consider it again. And even frozen for that matter
Gloss would make this look better but the film poster art does suit matte.

well, im collecting the disney steels but im not the sort of collector who has to have every single one. i dont want bednobs and broomsticks, or mary poppins, so i simply didnt buy them. im only collecting things i like lol

Just counted. I have 229 in my possession with at least 12 more ordered and then there are these which still have to be preordered !!!
