Am I right in thinking that this film isn't currently available on Blu-Ray in any other form (ie, Amaray)? If so, this would perhaps explain why this SteelBook was so popular and sold out

there are amaray versions of "the rocketeer" in usa, canada, australia and japan (according to another quite useful blu-ray site ;) ),

but nothing in europe yet, and this is in fact the very first "collectible" release of the rocketeer ever on blu-ray.

This, Sixth Sense and Little Mermaid all ready to be returned.

No more room for Garbage quality Steelbooks in my collection.

Just because it's not gloss, it's garbage quality? I like gloss too, but I dunno man. This is really nice cover artwork and awesome inside art. The back is decent. Nothing special. But also nothing horrible. I definitely wouldn't classify this as garbage quality. Looks better than that new USA wave.

So in other words, the ONLY version available on Blu-Ray here in the UK ;)

I would think the same also applies to Dick Tracy too

Mine looks nothing like the mock up picks- backround is a dark blue/greenish color...and not a light grayish/white as it should be.
Another epic fail from the knuckleheads at Zavvi.

It is still garbage to be me. Not because of gloss but due to the fact that it looks like some low rez postcard stuck on the Steelbook. The finishing of the Steelbook is nowhere near the Paramount Steels that were sold by Play for 10.99.

Of course 99% of the UK Steels look better than the US.

Got my copy yesterday and am EXTREMELY disappointed. The colors are sooo dark, almost looks like its saturated in black and the border around it is worse than I thought. Will not be keeping mine. The colors should have been more bold and vibrant would have made this a nicer steel.

Here's what I'm talking about in terms of how poor and dark the color is in comparison to my slipcover version.

I wonder if scanvo are using my old epson printer :hilarious: It always seemed to print out darker that the actual image on the screen. :sniper:
Could never figure out why.:dunno:

Ok threw together a quick video so you can see in up to 1080p detail the finish on this steelbook.
Would have been a perfect steel if the front was much lighter, as mock up pics suggested, and had a gloss finish. The front being too dark ruins it for me.

...and just fyi, the steelbook actually looks darker in hand than the video above suggests.

I don't find it too dark at all, personally. I haven't seen a single steelbook that looks the same as the mock-up. They are typically darker considering I, like most people, have the brightness on my monitor up fairly high as is the contrast. I am also using the super white setting.

Anyway, I think it looks great in hand and am thrilled to have it in my collection! My son (nearly 5 years old) and I will watch it together tomorrow!

Its not so bad steelbook but i really like the retro design. I am going to watch it with my father tonight. I remember the first time we watch it together was 1991 VHS

Got mine and there is a 2" long scratch under the plastic, on the left front side edge, about half way down...this is a first for me, luckily every Zavvi steelbook I've got has been perfect...then again, some aren't opened so maybe there are hidden faults I've yet to find.
