There are now 112 requests in the GB thread, indicating that FA/BB clearly knew the susceptibilities of their target clientele. A newly repackaged 'Terminator' Steelbook was virtually guaranteed to be so popular that it would sell out, even with a 33% hike in the price from that of the original FAC release of less than a year ago.

The message this sends back to them is that there is no need to go to the time and trouble of finding new titles to add to the collection, when all they have to do is repackage the tried and tested stalwarts, all at a substantially higher price, of course.

With 'T2' getting a theatrical re-release this year, on the occasion of its 25th anniversary, plus next year's release of the 'Genisys' sequel, the Terminator hype is sure to continue, so I fully expect FA/BB to repackage the other titles in the franchise. Who knows, we might even get all of them re-released yet a further time next year, to tie in with the cinema release of the new film.

I have been collecting FAC editions since they started just over a year ago, although I have been selective with the titles I have chosen. Sadly, this latest move is undoubtedly a retrograde step.

I'm a little surprised that the fanboys here, for whom FA can do no wrong, have remained silent on this subject.
no silence from me mate, yes I've caved and gone for it, but I've been reasonably vocal about what I think about this release, it agree it's a cash cow, I agree it mediocre, I agree it's lacking and critisize when criticism is due, which I have, but for the FACing life of me, I just had to get it!!!

Nobody's forcing anyone, I don't get all the fuss. I mean, the steelbook business was a milking industry way before these guys joined the game, so what? There are tons of issues I pass on every month, without whining or telling others they're weak because they bought 10 versions of Ghostbusters. Who cares? We're all entitled to spend our money as we please... and yes, there is certainly someone out there counting on that, but who cares as long as we're happy. It's all about supply and demand.
We express our displeasure over the fact that Filmarena or Black Barons sells us the old in the new. A rest of stock repackaged in collector's edition with a minimum of goodies for an unreasonable price.

In this case, one also doesn't need to say what he likes about a particular release, right? Because who cares what somebody likes? Why not reduce all the threads down to only facts about BS, release day and live pics? ;)

What I mean is: we are here to discuss, to share our opinion with others. Right?

Absolutely. I just don't understand why anyone should be pissed off if this sells. I mean, IMHO collecting is basically irrational, everyone follows his own rules.

T5 did so poorly in theaters that the sequel was cancelled. That was announced months ago. It shows how tired the general public is of the same plot line rehashed over and over. I personally am also tired of the same Terminator releases being rehashed over and over. No hate against BB, but I'm just tired of FA's blatant cash grabs. Their products are inferior to Nova and Blufans and just as pricey when shipping is factored in.

It's Box office performance was $440.6 million and you also have on top of that amount Blu-ray and DVD sales to be accounted for
There has been updates to this just recently in regards to Terminator 6
Schwarzenegger says Terminator 6 is on the way.

Skydance Media Chief Creative Officer and Terminator series producer Dana Goldberg has now addressed the matter, clarifying that the property is not dead in the water – though, it is under-going some course correction work.

Also confirmed that the plan for continuing the Terminator franchise has changed – though, she explained that the franchise isn’t on hold “so much as re-adjusting” – and that includes the proposed tie-inTerminator television show, too.

Terminator always sells and get's regular re releases around the world nothing new in that regard and there is always those who missed out getting previous versions

Yes it's not a title I would have picked to be a first release of a new label but it is still a title that will sell out

There are loads of films yes that we all like to see but some are releases that might struggle to sell

I'm sure you will see other releases from this label that already have a steelbook release but some will not had premium versions yet

I would have myself bought another T1 release if the steelbook itself was WEA.

@StifflersDad Riiiiight, uh huh. If you don't like this release that's fine. Does it look as nice as the FAC (taking into consideration the extras)? Probably not? Regardless of someones reason for buying or not buying it show some class and don't dump on others just because they don't see things your way.

But. Why buy it if you do t like the design or the cynicism behind it? It truly don't make sense; companies operate on a yes/no basis, where yes= purchase, and no=no purchase. The only message you're giving them is that this is acceptable.

A bit unfair to say FA products are inferior to Nova & Blufans, they have done some incredible releases as have Nova & Blufans, but they ALL have had duffers. I personally am not a fan of Blu fans, I do think they have done some great WEA steels, but the goods you get with it seems lacklustre, in my opinion. Nova, I think they are great as with Kimchi, Plain Archive etc. But FA are no way inferior to them, Looper for example is a gem, as is Novas Nightcrawler, and Blu fans GOTG.
When you factor in postage, if you go through a GB, it's waaaay cheaper, so not sure where you get that from. A Nova release costs me approx £55 shipped, a FA approx £35..... dependant on your country obviously.
End of the day, they all have dodgy releases, and I include this one.
Even though I'm in the GB for it :banghead: addictions a B***h

can see where you are coming from, but if you are a collector, different things float people's boats mate, as a first edition from a premium line, I'm thinking, got to have it!!
By the way, I'm not only one to say negative things about it and then enter the GB. People collect for different reasons don't they?

I didn't hate T5 but I do think the franchise has been pretty much ruined by the story rehashes, poor casting and general lack of vision shown by producers, writers and the Directors involved in each successive entry. Having said that, I'm oddly attracted to the idea of a 6th film. James Cameron - set aside your water and Ferngully fetishes for a moment and come back for another go at this. You may be the franchise's last hope. As for the new premium steelbook label BB, my advice is: welcome to the party!!! But please look for other titles to license. Don't become just another Marvel/Terminator/Disney outlet.

When it come to Terminator
For every customer that is not interested in purchasing a release you have lots of customers who are interested
A lot of customers missed out on this steelbook it sold well in various countries and some was sold out but there must have been some stock held back or found in a warehouse and offered to them

There will always be releases as steelbook collectors some don't want while others do want it
You will see a release you want and must have while another person wont be interested in that release it works both ways

A retailer wants a release that will sell well simply because the demand is there to sell all the stock
It's also easier to do limited runs with already available WWA steelbook it's not a new print run it's just adding new full slip and other items

Customers have choice to purchase any release or not to purchase it's all down to the individual to decide if they buy it or not and this is a release that will sell anyway you only have to look at the GB the number of members requesting a copy and you will have on top of this customers ordering direct from film arena
