I'm really surprised by all the hate for this design. I honestly think it is some really stunning imagery.

All the good art for this movie keys into its central theme, which is the conflict between human nature and the natural world. This steelbook design ignores all that and offers only a simplistic iconography that could be applied to any war movie and that says nothing about the character of this particular film. To me it looks more like it was knocked up by a graphic design intern who hasn't even seen the movie.
That's my feeling on it anyway.
I don't mind the simplicity of this steel but the artwork could do so much better. In terms of disc quality, The Criterion amaray is superb.
