Please don't count the amount of times I refresh this page today. ;)

what i would do for a portrait SB with this poster on it

and the UK poster as the back

I was kinda holding out hope that the image would be similar to the UK poster... just a panoramic shot of the camp at night. No fire or anything... just slightly bathed in the blue-light from the movie. Lots of snow on the ground, falling from the sky... wide shot to show the isolation. Maybe a fire-colored 'glowing' from one of the windows.

Then the old-school art on the back or inside. Gotta preserve that whenever possible. :)

fyi guys - I havent heard anything back yet on this front ... my guess is when there is no news to report, you remain silent. So quite possibly people are either pre-occupied at the moment or they are actually trying to make waves with this situation. Will post info when able, but as it gets later in the day in the UK dont expect too much today. Perhaps tomorrow ...

UPDATE: As many of you know, the final say so in just about everything steelbook comes down to the movie studios. They are after all the owners of the content (the film) so whilst the retailers/etailers and sites like HDN fight very hard (when we're allowed) to try and bring the coolest unique art it isnt without the owners final approval. In the case of a SteelBook movie, the movie studios.

And in some cases, I've heard where certain movie posters art is locked down to be pretty much the only art allowed. I've even heard where Directors and lead actors have had some say so in it before. So just as many times as it is out of our control (HDN) it can just as easily be out of the control of the retailer/etailer who is selling the product. With that in mind, if the normal vertical art couldn't fit into this horizontal design then maybe even the studio is limited as to what art they are allowed to use.

I do know that all your sentiments have been heard, and you are encouraged to still leave them in a constructive manner as the "eyes are watching" and who knows it might change something. However do realize that the folks at Play are trying to work their magic for you (us) etc. But no promises. :(

Funny how a company can get it so right (Fight Club, Braveheart, Predator) and so wrong (The Thing '82) at the same time.

Well if they're watching this thread here's a suggestion.... Hey Universal, take a good look at 20th Century Fox's wave of new steels on play.com

Is it so difficult sticking to the original artwork of Drew Struzan's The Thing?

JP-no, I just added it because that's what we have up to this point:) If it changes, we'll update the pics again-no final confirmation has been received.

I certainly hope it changes because it's pretty underwhelming as it stands now. The film definately deserves better treatment than this.

Hi the Tyrant-it seems many people feel the same. The ultimately the studio decides what they want. Although we are fortunate enough to be in a position to be asked for, and able to provide feedback. But of course the final decision makers are free to not change their original plans-they're not obligated to do so. Lets see what happens....:D

And lets be honest. considering the original plans (no back or inside art) Universal have been pretty good to us with this wave so far.
