Official word from ES:

We’re certainly planning to continue doing all future seasons of The Walking Dead in steelbook with matching artwork – it looks likely season 4 will be out in September 2014 as it follows the same pattern as Game of Thrones (i.e. the new season hits DVD and Blu-Ray just before the new season starts).

We’ve been told that the steelbooks will feature in the US Walking Dead magazine, so likely to be quite a bit of international interest for these.

The Entertainment Store is pleased to announce our latest exclusive steelbook releases: Seasons 1, 2 and 3 of The Walking Dead, AMC’s Emmy Award winning TV series.

Each season features world exclusive artwork by Mark Simpson AKA Jock, who is responsible for some of best regarded comics and art of this generation, having worked on 2000AD, The Losers and Hellblazer amongst others as well as producing artwork for many major film studios, including the artwork for HDN Steelbook of the Year 2012 winner The Raid.

The Walking Dead: Season 1 (Entertainment Store Exclusive Blu-Ray Steelbook):

- 2 Blu-Rays discs
- Debossed Title Treatment
- G2 Standard Steelbook case
- Limited to 4,000 copies worldwide
- Finish TBC

The Walking Dead: Season 2 (Entertainment Store Exclusive Blu-Ray Steelbook):

- 3 Blu-Rays discs
- Debossed Title Treatment
- G2 Standard Steelbook case
- Limited to 4,000 copies worldwide
- Finish TBC

The Walking Dead: Season 3 (Entertainment Store Exclusive Blu-Ray Steelbook):

- 5 Blu-Rays discs
- Debossed Title Treatment
- G2 Jumbo Steelbook case
- Limited to 4,000 copies worldwide
- Finish TBC

NB: Due to the number of discs needed for all episodes and extras, Season 3 has to be in a Jumbo format case.

All 3 Seasons are sold individually, and will be on sale exclusively through The Entertainment Store on Rakuten Play.com at midday BST on Friday 11th October 2013 when the release date and pricing will be revealed.

In the meantime, our full range of steelbooks is available here: http://www.play.com/stores/EntertainmentStore/Steelbooks

The Entertainment Store has been trading on Marketplaces since 2013 and is proud to retail only authentic and high quality Entertainment goods, delivered to customers direct from the Studio and Publishers.

I'm really surprised at all the reaction to these releases. Personally I think the artwork looks HORRIBLE. Wouldn't even pick them up if they were on sale for $10.

Different strokes for diff folks I guess...

I think they look pretty good, and because the shows origin is comics/graphic novels I think its pretty fitting. I got in on the group buy and thought the price was gonna be a lot more, so I am pretty happy with the numbers, but if I already had them I don't think I would double dip.

I agree.

The art is a nice nod to the series' comic book roots.

And artist Jock can do no wrong in my book.

Love the art, the price of this season is reasonable, my only drawback is that they look rubbish on blu ray. One scene is crystal clear, the next is the worst grain ive seen.

Cant justify further seasons on blu ray, let alone steelbooks.

I've just pre ordered all 3 of these... Comes to over 80 pounds! Best start saving up... Just before Christmas too... :(

If you are just joining the thread today, the 3 seasons of the Walking Dead Limited Edition Exclusive Steelbooks can be ordered here, or join the group buy in the Steelbook Group Buy forum.

Damn you Entertainment shop!...I had planned oncoming home from work to see the prices for these and fully expected them to be overpriced and I could use that as my excuse for not buying them (especially double dipping on season 3, even though its my favourite artwork of the 3) only to come home and find them all very reasonably priced....and the news that they hope to release future seasons in matching artwork...Ive been waiting for nicely packaged UK editions since the first season came out so I suppose this is finally my chance buy them. I couldnt resist the fishtank season 3 so I suppose I'll have to have 2 copies of season 3. I saw someone on youtube with the season 3 jumbo steel in the back of the fishtank so it must fit ok, so I could in theory sell the digipack, but I dont like splitting special editions up.

As for the cut/uncut debate, for the purist it might be an issue but from what Ive read its a case of a few seconds and some trims for runtime reasons, a few seconds here and there trimmed from long panning shots rather than all the 'gore' cut out (although some gory shots are trilled down a little) so comparing the steelbook to importing the German Bluray (region B, at £20 plus postage) or the US set (Region A, not sure on the current price but I dont have a region free player) the steelbook for me is the better option. and I like the art with it relating to the comic book origins....I wonder why Jock rather than Charlie Adlard though...not that Im complaining about Jock, I do like his artwork. Maybe Adlard was too expensive/too busy or couldnt do it for some kind of contractual reasons....

...so anyhow, I pre ordered all 3 :hilarious: Im not a huge fan of jumbo steels from what Ive seen of them, this will be my first so you never know, in hand it might seem better

i had to cancel monsters university ,planes, thinking of cancelling pain and gain cant decide on that as its very limited

I did the same, cancelled the zavvi exclusive Dexter boxset - I loved the first few seasons but decided as a whole I didnt love the show enough to spend £150 on it, and the ES world war Z also got cancelled. I did enjoy the film but ever since preorder was trying to justify almost £30 for it, in the end I decided against it. Sometimes these decisions need to be made....but I do this a lot, Im a terrible impulse buyer, the time between preordering things to release date helps me weed out the things Id quite like and probably impulse buy if it was available now from the things Id really love to own.

Or there might not be a really cool box set, just a plain ****** one and then these Steels might be impossible to get or really expensive! Also anyone who bought the first two, then would have to buy the jumbo or they would always have a gap in their collection!

Sent from my Galaxy S4

Walking dead are known for their great boxsets for seasons 1 and 3, so I am pretty hopeful it won't be ******.

Date appears to have changed to the 30/11

Scrub that. Seems to just say that on the app. I've ordered all 3. Got 2 months to think about it.

Okay, I like those prices. I'd be happy to pay that for The Walking Dead.

But...

ALL ON THE SAME FREAKING DAY?! Are you kidding me?

I'd have gone for it for sure if they were releasing them one a month. :/
