The Wolverine (3D+2D Blu-ray SteelBook) (HMV Exclusive) [UK]

I went into the Gateshead Metrocentre store today to reserve five copies, and was told the reservation fee would be the full 'computer' price of £35 each!

I told the chappie (nice fella) I'd put a down payment of £100, which he agreed, knowing full well that HMV won't be asking less than £20 a unit.

Seems like if you get the right server in the right frame of mind, they will move on the reservation price (mustn't be a company policy saying exactly what they have to take).

FWIW, I thought it was an excellent movie... but I think I'm in the minority.

I ordered from canary wharf with 0 deposit!

canary wharf told me its 32 or 33 (can't remember which) - but that was their 'provisional' price as they didnt really have any details other than the artwork

I had to pay a £5 deposit at Canary Wharf, lol.

HMV really need to train their staff and show some consistency.

It seems as if something has gone wrong at HMV. I mean how hard is it to issue a directive re: Deposit/no deposit and if there is a deposit how much is it. We seem to have everything from no deposit to being charged in full. It's not exactly great customer service.

IMO, this is a company that will fail again if they don't sort out the ongoing issues.

Seems to me regardless of what the company decides, each store seems to do its own thing, in the recent store closures the better of the large local stores closed down along with a very small but well run one, leaving the closest, but by far poorest one still going, for some annoying reason they open every steelbook, every boxset...basically anything not in an amaray and store the disks behind the counter, so when you look on the shelves its crammed with battered and dented steelbooks, boxsets with ripped packaging etc all at premium prices, I was chatting to a staff member recently that if I was here to buy this (I picked up a battered copy of the batman trilogy boxset), do they honestly expect me to pay full retail price for something that looks like its been kicked around the shop? or a steelbook thats scratched and shelf worn before Ive bought it...her response was 'we cant put the blue security tags on them so they open them...I asked why they cant use the taped on ones like every other HMV Ive been into uses or if you insist on opening them, just open one as a display copy and keep the sealed ones behind the counter...and she looked at me like I had 3 heads....:dunno:

Im in 2 minds weather to preorder at the local store or make the 30 mile trip to the next nearest store just so I can get an undamaged sealed copy, as I know every copy my local store gets will be unwrapped and jammed onto a shelf to be nicely scuffed and scratched before I get there

Many of the customer service reps in the shops have little idea of what's going on at least in the flagship Oxford Circus store. I asked one person if unwanted return / refund policy is in effect. The person replied it is back in effect as they have been saved and are now back to normal. When I went to the payment counter I was told I can return only if there is a damage or playback issue or exchange.

I don't see HMV lasting long if they don't re-open their HMV online.

^Wait I minute I see the flaw in your idea. You were thinking. ;)

Don't worry I agree with you about a display copy. Or better yet just use a blank box with the same cover art and label it Steelbook. Label it as availble at the counter.

Anyone have any idea when HMV.com will be back online? Still got 'PureHMV' Card with points on it and all my nearest HMV's have disappeared with the nearest now 15 miles away!!!!!

HMV brand into 26 Xtra-vision stores nationwide by the end of September

HMV Stores Nationwide

As part of the plan to return HMV to Ireland, Hilco is opening four standalone HMV stores.

The first three stores at Henry Street and Liffey Valley SC in Dublin and at the Crescent SC in Limerick will open their doors next week, while the store in the Dundrum Centre in Dublin will open week ending September 14th.

In addition it is planned to integrate the HMV brand into 26 Xtra-vision stores nationwide by the end of September, bringing together two of the leading Entertainment retail brands in Ireland, and introducing HMV to areas of the country that had never previously been able to enjoy the HMV experience.

YES :oohyeah:
Navan is one of the stores :scat:

I have contacted HMV to find out if Xtra-vision online ordering will also be integrated

think about it-HMV exclusive-in store-not online-no overheads,no damages or returns through the website-people have to get it on the week of release and pre-orders have a deposit-smart...& doesn't sound like a firm going under...

Put my pre-order in today at HMV Stratford, System still saying it will be £34.99 and deposit was £5, if the price does not come down it will be a refund I will be asking for

used to work for HMV-if you want to know why they were in so much trouble now-talk to a member of staff-you have a 1 in 10 chance of meeting someone who knows what they're talking about...

Im guessing you were the 1 in 10?...or were you one of the 9 numpties?? lol ;)

To be fair the staff in my local shop are ok knowledge wise, they are just rather ham fisted with the stock, cramming stuff onto shelves, bashing corners on expensive boxsets etc half of the stock looks second hand before its even been sold....I remember seeing a copy of the Snow White and the Huntsman steelbook on sale for £29 that was bent like a banana
