Yes I know. But I thought because a lot of countries had their own site (WOWHD.IE, WOWHD.CO.UK etc...) that you didn't have to pay it? I've never had to pay customs on them.

I've just ordered this from wowhd uk for £21.99. Was going to wait but checked my local hmv haven't got any in stock and amazon etc sold out.

You should challenge WOESD as you bought from the UK site. They are yet to refund me on the damaged Fifth Element. Been pending for almost a month. They got my return 10 days back.

As it's sent from outside the EU and is more than £15 duty would be due.

The Shipping FAQ's (http://www.wowhd.co.uk/info/CustomerService/Shipping) say as much.

But they also say that VAT is included in all prices (http://www.wowhd.co.uk/info/TermsConditions ), if that is so there should be no customs charges as the duty has been collected by the retailer.

Isn't WOWHD the rebranding fo CDWOW who got dragged over the coals for not charging VAT a few years back.

If VAT is included then they can only charge handling fees which I believe is ridiculous.

No more ordering from WOESD for me.

Is the gloss finish the reason this is sold out almost everywhere? I have a hard time wondering how a £20+ 2D release has pretty much disappeared a week after release given how reviews of the film were pretty lukewarm, and also taking into account the steels of the other films in the Cornetto trilogy took forever to sell out (if they even have).

Nice art and good film too. Theres not enough collectors out there to make a steelbook on this scale (safe to say not ultra limited) sell out just because of gloss. This appeals to the mainstream audience too.

Maybe it's just a supply issue? Universal usually print billions and whilst this is popular, it's not a huge blockbuster. I'm really hoping it isn't sold out as it is one I wanted, just not for more than £20.

The first two aren't exactly limited. That said the quality isn't as nice nor were they released at the time of the amaray release. This could be sold out

I say they learnt from the mistake with ET and a few other releases
This is limited release this time as its so far UK/Ireland Release only
Previous Universal Steelbook Titles were worldwide Releases with various design differences
Qty though not sure

They Should mention when its listed as Limited the exact Print Run for each Region which in this case was UK/Ireland
Amazon UK had there allocation
Zavvi had there allocation
HMV allocation looks was not very big
Other Stores/Online UK/Ireland ?

Problem is overall what was the print run is unknown

They should mention the Print Run as it will help sell a title if it is very limited and also let collectors know there chance of missing out

Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz were not limited releases and there is different steelbook artwork releases also worldwide

Also there is a large fan base worldwide
Be interested to know how many The World's End Steelbook were shipped from Amazon UK and Zavvi to overseas customers as this is the only Steelbook release at the moment

It was not a Worldwide Steelbook Release

Saying that I still expect you will see a German release at some stage

I cant remember any previous Universal Limited Release were they mention the print run Qty
They should say the print run qty as this would help collectors know how limited it is

Good example of title with limited in listing was Skyfall (ok not a Universal Release )we did not know the print run and that also had other releases in other countries and sold fast yes was a big blockbuster

But The World's End Steelbook this is the only release so far so not really a surprise its sold well

Will they print more possibly yes unless they did decide on a max print run just would help collectors to know if its 4,000 5,000 10,000 50,000 etc

I'm sorry but the word 'limited' without mentioning a specific number is meaningless when it comes to Steelbooks. Proof? See below. Before anyone says, it isn't just Zavvi that list it as limited edition, so do Amazon and Sainsbury's.
