People bite far to easy on here. I can have my opinion. I'm obviously not as obsessed as some on here. Just don't get why people pay that sort of money for an average film. Probably just to say they own it. Agreed it looks nice. Just shows everyone's different. I have a collection of opened steelbooks of films i enjoy looking at and watching over and over again. Thought that was the point.... Calm down and enjoy looking at your sealed OOP steelbooks. You'll be millionaires in no time. ;)

Hi there.

Do share with us your collection of opened steelbooks of films that you enjoy looking at and watching over and over again. I have a thread here for us to do so:

Cheers!

Oh I get it now. It's about the rarity & value not about buying a film you like to open and watch again and again. My bad.

For me its about collecting a collectible item that i like, people collect all sorts, hot toys are awesome, star wars toys and figures for instance but they dont open and play with them, well they might, :D but i really dont get why people have a problem with collectors that keep there steelbooks sealed. I open some but keep most sealed. Its about collecting for some people its not about the film at all, i love my zombie flesh eaters steelbook, i wouldnt open it as i think the film is crap.

Thanks for your sensible reply mate. It's a expensive hobby then if you're buying every steelbook that you like the look of. Buying films I like in a collectible edition, sometimes rare format is what I'm after. Touch too many nerves on here if you don't agree with a steelbook that is highly valued. Thanks. :D

I fell into the trap of starting my collection too late. I picked up Thor and Captain America for £100 - I could afford it at the time and I am now content I have them. The the rule for me now, is I will only pay a maximum of £25 for a steel book.

It was either spend £100 on 10-15 "meh" titles, or get the above two, that I really wanted. It can be an expensive hobby. Collecting them is already addictive!

P.S - I always open my steel books. Not a fan of buying 8 copies and flogging them on Ebay

This hobby is like any other. I've started collecting since 2009 a few Disney's BB SB. Remember saw all of them more than a year with dust in the shelves. Right now I've less than 40 opened but well protected SB cause I brought only the ones I really like to watch over and over and not cause the whole world demands it. If not I'll recommend you to move to China or Japan to get the "best" releases.EEK!

I have a Thor 3D sealed with helmet (german one), but I think I have spend too much on it :(.
Paid 110 Euros for it, but I see now its only worth 100 because of the Zavvi one :(.

I will keep it, even if I sell all I will keep my avengers collection together <3 :p

EDIT: Not that hookers and crack is a bad way to spend an evening - just not both at the same time, something always ends up "pear shaped" <-- sometimes I share too much, time too retreat slowly into a corner methinks.[/QUOTE]

Now I had to read this with a Scottish Accent...made my laugh of the day! :D

Absolutely - and when you think that they only got £8 cash or £10 exchange its just madness.

And to be in a 2nd hand shop stuffed into their normal blu's its in pretty much flawless condition too :D

Great find, then! I looked in my local one and the best I could see were some annihilated Wanted's. Mmmmm, decisions...

Thanks.
There are 4 shops within 10 miles of me and I check them out every Sat.
CEX just buy and sell steelbooks sure as standard blu's with no collectability in mind - there are bargains to be had for sure.
Last few weeks I could not resist buying 2 extra copies of Aliens and Cowboys at £6 each and Resident Evil Afterlife at £4 all in excellent to very good condition.

If there where more steels going aroundi guess just not as many released in U.S.A. but u could get one at place that sells used blu rays. I think I could find something at the FYE by my house sometime. Or just a few weeks ago I found Iron Man 2 target metal pack at V-Stock in the mall used. That was a great pickup I think.
