personally thought hmv's cover was quite dull, can't see what's so popular about it, but each to their own i suppose

Thor had the same artwork for every country and hands down the original thor's artwork is legendary best ive seen so far beautiful in every aspect truely a great steelbook to have in your collection :D

Steelbooks should now die!

Because?

I don't get the big deal. The first was an HMV exclusive in the UK (HMV shipped worldwide more or less). This one will have different art and probably only have 1 disc and be a Zavvi exclusive (who also ship worldwide more or less).

Why should you care? I take it you have the HMV version, I do. It doesn't bother me in the slightest if there's another version coming or not. Have you never bought a second edition release? Were you against the UK versions of Inception, Blade Runner or 300? What about Play's Iron Man and Iron Man 2? I take it you won't be getting The Goonies as there's a first run version in Asia? Not interested in either of Zavvi's Star Trek's I assume.

It applies to every consumer product in today's market, be them supposedly limited or otherwise. Newer, cheaper, better (or worse) versions come along all the time. Universal, WB, Sony etc. don't care about anyone's desire to have a 'collectable steelbook', they care about making money and as such keeping people in work and helping grow the economy. They're not interested in the secondary market (which has been artificially created by scalpers) and so on. And why should they be?

I own my HMV Thor. I paid retail price and I got what I paid for. Anyone who buys the Zavvi version will get what they pay for.

Thanks for the rant. I am not saying it because my Thor wont be worth anything. I dont care about price. I care about rarity of an actual steelbook.

Steelbooks seem to be outgrowing amaray's these days. This is why I said it.

Soon people will be asking what an amaray is.

It wasn't a rant.

Your Thor will still be as rare when this new version comes out as it is now. As time goes by, and the odd steelbook gets damaged then all of our steelbooks get more rare (unless it's ours that gets damaged or an exact reprint in produced).

I agree with you that so many movies are getting the steelbook treatment, but you can see why. If they always sell out (of which bulk buyers/scalpers are a large factor) and HMV/Zavvi/Amazon or whoever make lots of money then it'll continue this way. It's supply and demand.

Zavvi knows how popular Thor was and intends to capitalise on it. It'll sell out (quicker than IM3 will) because it'll be produced in smaller numbers, it'll probably be cheaper and there'll be less countries versions to choose from. There are people who missed the first release, people who collect steelbooks, people who collect Marvel steelbooks and those who'll buy to resell so it'll be in demand.

Nah, walk into any superstore or even an entertainment store like HMV and you'll still be rooting through the shelves looking for steelbooks among the amarays.

Maybe it's just me, but it seems a little illogical to say that you like something and then get upset when more of that something is provided. Based on your statement, I presume one steelbook ever having been made would suffice? If not, how many?

Barry mate seriously take a chill pill....if you don't like the the collectibility of steels anymore then that's fine but there's no need to be all negative by posting your rants in numerous threads where others are constantly checking for positive updates or info on the release....use relevant discussions threads to do so or just refrain from all discussions as a whole.

Simple answer: "Only enough to make the one -I- own more valuable."

And in the case where the party in question doesn't own the title, "Only enough so that the copy I manage to purchase becomes valuable."

:D

I am happy this is getting release again, for those who have the first version hope the artwork is different so it will not affect them much i.e. value, rarity, but then again suppose the artwork on the new is better then that could still result in a bad outcome, well double dip people.
