The artwork for this is pretty lame in my opinion. Captain America has much better artwork. Yet I loved Thor and didn't like Captain America that much. So I guess I will end up getting both since I don't have either movie yet.

Purchase both, put the Thor disc in the CA case, put the CA disc in the Thor case, sell the Thor case with the CA disc.

Problem solved! Next?

You know who I feel sorry for? Those who missed out, for whatever reason, on the HMV release. Now, the only way to get a Thor steelbook at a decent price is to convince themselves that this is ok... when it's not.

It's complete & utter garbage (imho), but hey... that's Zavvi.

This seems to be a misconception that many share.

It's often assumed that the only people that are happy with rereleases is those that missed out on the original. That's simply not true. Lots of people have said how much they prefer the new UK version of Batman over the US version. It has inside art for a start which some consider superior to those that don't.

I own the HMV versions of Thor and Captain America. I prefer the fronts of these Zavvi versions in both cases. The spines are basically identical (the part I see most of the time), and I've no preference either way about the backs. If these were Blu-ray/DVD combi's then I'd happily swap my HMV versions for them.

Yes, I'm also one of those that prefers the Play.com version of Iron Man over the FS version (which admittedly I've never owned, but I hate blue banners) and Iron Man 2 over the Korean version (which I did own and got rid of in the bin - once I'd taken the clear plastic bit and discs out).

You're happy to say 'IMO' about these ones being garbage, but IMO, the Zavvi ones look better.

never understood why the HMV original was liked so much, personally think it's a bit plain although the back cover is nice, whereas the new one i think the opposite nice cover not so good back cover

I had hope in the rerelease but this is just awful, I mean what the **** did they think when they "designed" the back ? Not going to buy this one only to have a Thor Steelbook this would be ridiculous.

I am going to get this one, never bought the HMV one as it was the same cover as my US 3D version. I only regret that for the price I could have sold it for but I doubt I would have sold it anyway.
I like the cover though it is a photoshop job of the character posters that were released at the time but I think it works. It is bette than the new Captain America one though.

I agree totally, not much thought went into that back cover, maybe Zavvi should just slow down a little and put more thought into the cover art rather than let's see how many we can release this year.
