Yeah but that's not our fault they don't ship to UK. So wishing for a UK retailer to stop shipping to us is not very positive for a steelbook collecting community.

Thing is we have to opt and rely on group buys to get steelbooks imported from for instance FS and other retailers, which is more time consuming and works out to be more expensive than ordering from a UK retailer that ships worldwide for 0.99 with better packaging (referring to amazon.ca Jiffy bags etc) :)

Just my 2p worth

I understand that but that does not mean because FS does not ship to UK that UK stores should stop shipping to Canada. And remember we are in the same boat when ordering anything other than from Zavvi and amazon.co.uk which for me is not very much. Most of my items are from Blurans Kinchi and entertainment store. Which end up costing a lot.

I am not saying I don't agree that it would be nice if FS shipped world wide but I do disagree with a comments saying Zavvi should stop too.

Yes it's definitely better for business for these retailers, it's making them (zavvi) money so I can't think of any reason why they would stop :)

I think what he's saying is that International collectors should be glad Zavvi overseas and for so little extra cost because UK collectors don't have the same options. Pretty much all the biggest retailers for exclusives outside of the UK don't ship to the UK i.e. Fnac, Futureshop, Media Markt etc.

And I am glad. If you go far enough above you will see the initial comment that I am referring to.

Play.com give free postage to Ireland

But it's not Free Postage . It should be phrased as "no extra postage costs" . The price you pay includes a discounted postage rate (for bulk usage) , which is why "free postage retailers "tend not to list things below a certain threshold.

So when they list in euros they increase the amount to cover the extra postage costs.

Just a guess , but it explains the big discrepency in exchange rates.

Restrictions on finish are not only up to the retailer-other decision makers in the process have a say as well.

I should have left "matte" out. :p

I should have said "I think Zaavi is thankful anyone buys their cheap steels."

With few exceptions, I quit buying the cheap & cheap looking releases. Like a few others, I've been going for quality rather than quantity.

You truly get what you pay for and settle for.

I like some of the KimchiDVD releases, ES releases, Asian releases especially "Lawrence of Arabia", UK "Taxi Driver", UK "Pulp Fiction", German "Last Stand" Hero Pack, Media Markt Lenticular Magnet releases, Best Buy "Zero Dark Thirty", etc. Releases with more than one disc, a great transfer full of extras, nice finish, embossing/debossing, beautiful cover art & inside art, etc.

I'm really encouraged by the quality releases I've seen and purchased this year.

I think Hi-Def Ninja Forums, their amazing Staff and Contributors has helped immensely to get eTailers to step up their game and improve the quality of releases and let them know how important good service and packaging is to the success or failure of their businesses.

A big, big, huge Thank You to Wreck, Andy, Digital Babe, Drum 18, Naughtius Maximus, Hubmuswell, Biscuitnoir, Sunnyx, Bidou, Bluraysteel, Roverite, Sproutyrouty, and all the others that have made this amazing site what it is and all their hard work!!!!!

FYI, a couple hundred cancellations for Zavvi's Exclusive 'Thor' will be going on sale in a few hours. If any remain after that round of re-sells due to failed payments or other reason, they will be available next week.

When will these be going live?

I realized I was gutted that I had to cancel this one and then it sold out... but then I realized that with n°2 release at the end of the month, they will certainly release a steelbook next year with both movies. So I'm fine now :)
