I always prefer GBs because the organizer is also a SteelBook collector and knows what they are doing. Even if it is a few bucks more, it is worth it to know that your SB will be in excellent shape when it arrives. I am too busy to fiddle with returns and exchanges.

GB organizers also usually have a reputation to uphold here so you get quality service (and occasionally candies!).

I just got mine on ebay, £28.96 with free international shipping to the uk, works out cheaper than the GB,s too.

So you sacrifice the security of an GB for ~£2 ?
Price is just a wild guess 31$+18$(shipping)+4$(Packaging)=53$ * 1,04= 55$ CAD which are £29,7 but since Paypal has worse conversion rates it will come out at ~£31.

Well not really smart dude. Beside being on GB is a priviledge.

I have been biding my time on here (signed up a while ago but have only recently started to participate) waiting to be able to be part of these legendary group buys eg: Making sure I don't spam post, trying to contribute to the conversations etc.

I'm so glad for this to be my first group buy....the first of many I'm sure :scat:

...also...I want american candies :hilarious:

He doesnt have to join the GB if he doesnt want to. No need to act like hes doing something wrong because he want to save a few pounds. Also not every ebay seller is incompetent at packing steels, especially if you just communicate with them before its shipped. We all respect the GB's and especially the members that host them but sometimes we want other options.

Shipped in a bubble mailer. I wish you that it arrives safe... In the GB, we ship in BOXES with a LOT of protection (that's why the price difference).

I paid paypal so im protected against damage/loss anyway so i have nothing to lose and not everyone on ebay uses bubble mailers, im not knocking GB,s just sometimes ebay is worth a try, every penny counts. If they turn up damaged i will get a refund and get them from someone else, not a problem as there will be plenty around for a while on ebay and HDN trade lists. I got 2 copies so i imagine they will post them together with any luck, i only need one to be mint. :p
I wasnt going to get the futureshop release but after finding out its debossed, thanks to HDN  i decided its the one i wanted along with the taiwan version which i order, also thanks to HDN  i will have to make another donation to HDN very soon for all the great info i get from here. Im not knocking GB,s the packaging is the best, ive been in a few GB,s.

I actually saved more than that as postage for 2 steels in the GB nearly doubles. :p:naughty:

I've only ever received 1 group buy and it was by far the best packaged steel I've ordered. I've never had a problem on Ebay either *touches wood*. Although you do hear horror stories. EEK!

For releases like this, I would prefer to use GB, but that's just me. Each to their own!

Well my experience was the ebay sellers are shipping as cheap as possible and even defend jiffybags may i just got the black sheeps and i heard a lot of horrorstorys about papyal-refounds. But if it works out for you then i can't argue against it :p

My bro spotted the same ebay seller and we were umming and aahing over it but after reading about group buy organizers, I'm sold on a GB (which will be my first one by the way).

Totally agree, as much as I do spend a small fortune on eBay, at the end of the day you can never be 100% sure. With a GB you get the piece of mind that someone is doing this for the love of the collecting community. I would rather pay more and get the love than pay less and maybe get a defective product/bad packaging from someone who really couldn't care less.

I also spotted the same seller, but I'm with Drum18 all the way :scat:

Once again that depends on the seller. Some do cut corners whilst some go the extra mile.

Yep there are a few eBay sellers that have a good track record, that I have bought older titles through and they always come well packed. I tend to read the reviews on any seller before bidding/buying. If I spot one bad packaging comment then I don't use. Steelbook collectors are quick to comment if the packaging is crap.

Definitely. Drum18 has been extremely helpful and it makes you realise exactly why they call it a community. Collectors from all 4 corners of the world and they come together like next door neighbours. Fantastic.

Nail and head
