Personally I would love to see HMV get their own exclusive design, as it would utterly destroy anything Zavvi com up with for this release, but chances are this will be the only UK exclusive and I can't see Zavvi coming up with anything like the original HMV release.

First off, HMV didn't 'design' the original THOR. They only had exclusivity for it in the UK. (And it didn't even include a 3D version of the film) It was a worldwide release.

The same way that Zavvi have exclusivity for this second one in the UK. And if was HMV who were stocking it, there is no way you could possibly know that they 'would utterly destroy anything Zavvi come up with'. Chances are it would be the same artwork anyway.

It will be available worldwide.

UK Wolverine is already selling on eBay at higher prices than the European version, even though it's the same design. Hence proving my original comment correct

Large store chains DO get a say in what they stock, already spoken to Zavvi and they are awaiting to "approve" the design of this. "we will do our best to make sure this is a great release" Their words not mine. You only have to look on here to see different store exclusives which can come down to many reasons, one of which is "exclusivity" HMV before their problems held a lot of weight with the film studios and had a lot of deals in place resulting in some premium products. Granted Paramount were more interested in a quality product where Disney who are now making them couldn't really care less most of the time so the chances of HMV at the time saying no we want something better were slim. They lost those rights which have now filtered out to Amazon and Zavvi amongst others, who both seem less interested in premium quality and more interested "most of the time" in just securing the right to sell it. So no, 1 I was CORRECT, and 2 not spouting "pro-HMV nonsense" Zavvi do not hold the same level of influence with companies that HMV once had. That's not nonsense, it's simple fact which I didn't need to result to insults to discuss!

The phase one steelbooks aren't very limited as far as I'm aware. Especially considering that the artwork is the same for both thor and captain america worldwide and Thor is very hard to get hold of cheap. They are just desirable

I'm just struggling to think of a HMV exclusive (other than Drive, War Horse and Chernobyl Diaries-and lets face it, these were hardly 'Premium products'. One with no inside art and another with a printed back) that weren't identical in other countries.

So it's a bit unfair to credit HMV for all those other cool Steelbook designs.

Anyway, back on topic...........

Taken over Franchises except Pixar are not being given the true Disney treatment. No title, matte finishing and poor embossing may continue to become a norm.

here's how i'd like my thor dark world steelbook to look

front,spine & back:

I'd have thor + hammer + lightning +logo all glossy the backdrop a high quality textured matte. (if embossed just the logo) back would be either all glossy, or have just the silhouette's glossy
