I agree entirely with this. Normally I would say the likelihood of WEA from Disney is as likely as pigs flying, but Zavvi do seem to have some sort of deal with them. At least when it comes to their animations, so who knows? I hope for a pleasant surprise.

Wasnt Iron man 3 supposed to have exclusive artwork? then when others appeared with the same art it was supposed to be exclusive embossing...then all the steelbooks ended up exactly the same embossing and all...and some even included the 3D disk, so Im guessing the Thor exclusive will be another worldwide release ...Im quite happy to be proven wrong though :)

Did I miss read that or did it say 3D, I just want to make sure I'm not imagining that. and £25 isn't unreasnable for a 3D steelbook. Saying I've seen standard cases with 3D sell for that price.

It was exclusive. Exclusive to the UK. You couldn't get that Iron Man 3 Steelbook anywhere else in the UK only from Zavvi.

Only a worlwide exclusive art (WEA) like the new Jackie Brown means it won't be available in any other country.

Oh well, people will be reselling it for £100 a year after release date, so at least you can profit from it if you ever tire of it. :hilarious:

These prices are getting out of hand. Seems like the norm is becoming £25 for 1 movie. Doesn't make any sense since the standard release will likely be between £18-20 so why is the steelbook an extra £5. £2-3 I could understand but not £5.

IMO a 2d/3d steelbook should be no more than £22-23. If this has WEA, then the £25 is justified but I just don't see it happening.

Yep unless it's a limited run with seriously good artwork and design. I have no interest. I don't have high hopes it will be either though as Disney famously screw people for money with poor products in the UK.

also remember to keep your eyes peeled for them selling off half the Special Feature contents to another retailer as an "exclusive". They (or Paramount) did that with Avengers which had a bonus disc exclusive to Sainsburys.

..or even worse, locking bonus content to Ultraviolet only like what warner are doin with Man of Steel

You can't keep comparing prices from years ago to today. Steelbook collecting has changed. It's a combination of inflation, rising costs and a realisation of the profit Steelbooks can bring. At least this includes the 3D version and if Zavvi were somehow able to get WEA on this, then it's probably worth the price they are asking.

"years ago"' I'm sure Thor came out in 2010 or something so lets not make it sound like a decade or something.
It should still come with the DVD and digital copies for the price. Like the original.

I'd like to see what US retailers will do for this one. Most likely no steelbook so I'll pre-order this for the wife. She's one of Loki's Army. :p

I may end up getting one of the retailer exclusives too if they have significant extras.

I do find it odd that Zavvi are mentioned at all other than being the seller. I don't remotely think even for a split second that they will have had any say on the design or contents of this box. Disney tell retailers what they are getting, they don't discuss, especially on a new products like this.

As the original Thor Blu-ray 3D transfer was such a disappointment I'm loathed to pre-order/buy this until the reviews are out.

Don't count on it as of yet. Iron Man 3 didn't so it might be the same. Since this is a Disney film not and not Paramount I wouldn't hold my breath.
