True, however Zavvi have the right to say "that is f**k ugly. I am not selling that as an exclusive".

Disney may act all high and mighty and go elsewhere but would probably be told the same elsewhere.

I'm not saying Zavvi should cancel with them. They should stand up for themselves as well as the consumer and tell Disney to sack the designer and give them something nice.

They should, but they likely won't without a lot of cancellations, and even then it will only affect future potential exclusives. Thor doesn't sting nearly as much as Frozen, just because it has once again ended the chance for a matching set of classics, but it's still setting an unpleasant precedent for Disney steels, the worst part of which is the fact that it comes across entirely as cost-saving stunt. That they then market them at a £25 RRP is just salt in the wound.

I am always fun and respectful to everyone here. I just don't like the art. I won't go complaining to retailers about it. If it stays this way, I simply won't buy it. But by saying in the forums I don't like it, as well as most people, things could potentially change. You never know.

I have also lost out on steelbooks and limited editions in the past too due to their ugliness, but I move on after my outbursts. Not to you guys. To the designers of this atrocity.

Hey Barry-understood-my comment was to address some aspects of your post, as well as address a number of posts that have appeared in a number of different threads since the art has changed.

That back looks like it was created by a thirteen year old kid that just got photoshop for Christmas from their big wig Disney executive parent. The pics with the frames around them just look so amateur and bad.

I'm speaking with my money this time and if this is indeed the final design I'm passing on this eyesore.

I can handle the Thor 2 Spine more than Frozen as they messed up The Avengers Universe way back with the HMV Avengers. But I was looking forward to collecting a uniform Disney Classics Steelbook Collection. My night is ruined now :(.

While I'm not keen on the Avengers steel, I think that one did work, as it avoided the incredibly unpopular UK retitle, and essentially did spell out the title, albeit in pictoral form.

This inability for Disney UK to release a single consistent collection is actually very saddening, but I suppose there is some solace to be had in the fact that we're never going to see the complete set on steel anyway. I'd be surprised (happily) if the 40's package films actually got a Blu-Ray release full stop. Black Cauldron, too, the way things are headed.

Which is why I made my very own complete custom blu-ray set with numbered spines. 1-52

I'd still buy if the back did not look so piss poor. Put a tiny bit of thought into the design guys....just don't line up some pics like a freakin' high school yearbook.

That's definitely a better layout for the pictures, but unfortunately it can't alter the fact that those three pictures now appear on the steelbook twice.

^
I bet you money that was probably the original intent until they found they could save even more $$$ by removing the the slipcover from the cost.

+1

Always thought the spine looked odd with the gap between Mike & Sully's heads as if this was done on purpose.

But with those floating heads all across the spine that rules out any possibility of it working on this release. :(

Ironic that the first Thor steelbook is considered as one of the best, can see this being voted one of the worst, and getting lots of cancellations too! Change that back Disney, save the other charactors for the inside

seeing the final back art today was the final straw, i cancelled this

it would have been fine without those character frames and nice clean back with the cape, cannot justify $43USD on this ugly steelbook

im thinking about doing what another member here suggested and just going amaray for phase 2 movies, although i would be willing to purchase this one at clearance of 12.99

I just found the picture for the Korea version & would take it over the Zavvi one any day

this would go nicely with the HMV steel which also had a black background, where can we order this?
