Sorry if this is a really stupid question DK06CTR... but how can you tell how many numbers are left?

when you go on amazon and add something to your cart, go to edit cart and update the quantity to 999 if there is less than a 1000 copies it will update and tell you how many there actually is left.

OK all these inventory numbers fluxing is killing me (for many reasons) so I "bribed" one of my buddies who is well versed on that retailer's system and found out that number is based on inventory on hand in their distribution centers and not on what is allocated. This real time supply chain inventory tracking saves space and reduce shipping costs. You did not hear it from me
