Anyone think this will sell out? Honest opinions

Just thinking along the lines of i.e Aladdin, Who Framed Roger Rabbit were if I don't do it, I end up paying £30-40 on sellers market.

I think that it will sell out in the next couple of weeks, not as fast as Aladdin and WFRR. But I think that a lot of people will get this as an addition to there Disney collection or next to there Tron Legacy steel.

Or maybe there are some huge fans of the Tron film or oldies in general

I somehow can't share your enthusiasm for this steelbook. The retro look makes this kind of like elementary school drawings. Sorry... :(

I first saw Tron Legacy and really love it. Some weeks ago I had the chance to watch Tron Classic on TV, and had to turn it off after 10 minutes. I guess you need that notalgia.

I'm planing to pass this. And if I should change my mind sometime, it will only be for trade later on...

And now, please don't kill me for this post :ohno:

Haha nobody's going to kill you my friend. Only the Recognizer that's floating above your house! :hilarious:

But in all seriousness, I think you needed to have watched this around about the time it was released. I remember watching it as a kid, and loving it. So the Nostalgia factor is big for me.

I didn't see it until about a week before Tron Legacy was released, I was expecting more but I understand it was made waaaaay back in the day.... What do you expect!

Cult classic though, this is a tough desicion for me! Buy at full price or wait be cheap and miss out if it is sold out! I am pre ordering and will decide at a later date!

You know.. it's funny, this isn't the greatest movie, obviously. Many aspects of it are darn near silly by today's movie standards actually, but we may be saying the same things about movies of 2013 in 30+ years too.

That's not the point of these collectible exclusive steelbooks. The point is that... it's a collectible exclusive steelbook. That's why people care about the artwork, about whether it's embossed/debossed, glossy or matte. Anybody can buy this disc in a standard amaray case, and I bet most of us probably wouldn't be interested.

I was not out looking for the original Tron from 1982 on blu ray, yet I have this steelbook on pre-order, and happy to say so.

What's wrong with buying a Steelbook, just because it's a Steelbook? Absolutely nothing. I'm not a huge fan of 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit?' but the Steelbook is absolutely amazing, I couldn't miss out on that :scat:

Same here for WFRR. I watched it last night. Had never seen the whole movie before, only bits and pieces.

And while it was entertaining and funny at times for sure, it was also quite over the top, with grown adults often acting like silly school children (like Home Alone 2 style).

But man that is one nice steelbook, with possibly the best back cover of any steelbook I've ever seen in person.

*** but I will add that some of the special features do make you appreciate the movie a bit more. It was apparently a very difficult and ground breaking idea for a film of that time that had never really been done before. The way they had to mix the real actors with the cartoon action was a pretty daunting task and they pulled it off well.

I think the same could be said about this original Tron. It was very ambitious for that time period.

I know. And that's why I also mentioned what I think about the cover.
Exclusiveness is not the only argument. The artwork also must apear to me. And since the nostalgic factor is missing to me, I find that the artwork like some elementary school drawings. So the movie itself is indeed important in this case.

I think it's good to consider the movie to understand the artwork. Honestly that artwork is spot on for this film. I mean... really really spot on. I don't think it could be much better actually.

That's exactly what I'm talking about all the time. You need the nostalgia to like this artwork. Or you are someone who just has to collect everything.
