They could give it away free i still would not want it:D

The completest in me says crap I need to get this, heck I own two sex and the city steels (one the best buy and one the futureshop excusive as they looked so different). Even though I will never watch the movie again, got dragged to the theatre to see it and was so bored halfway through was trying to think of ways to bring the theatre down so I could escape.

Hi Sir-sorry no idea. I am not personally into G1's, so I don't track these beyond what's discussed here. Maybe there was a more limited print run or they just decided to raise the price for the last copies (if you're talking about retailer prices). If you're talking about Ebay prices, these were being sold cheap early on, but as always people try to capitalize on the Steelbook collectors, especially because BB doesn't ship overseas.

Yea I noticed that and hate it, sometimes you just to be vigiliant and just keep checking ebay like a hawk daily.

Eclipse is super-rare, every Best Buy only got 2-3 copies of the Blu-ray editon, and Breaking Dawn Part 1 followed suit with rarity, and goes for just as much (if not more) on the secondary markets.

There was not much hype for Eclipse when first released, because it was G1 (like New Moon), but also New Moon Best Buy steels were sitting on shelves for months in stacks... way too much inventory, and didn't seem to be limited at all.

Eclipse and Breaking Dawn sold-out at nearly every best buy in the country on their respecitve release dates.

I'd say theyre each worth at least $50, I sold my extra Breaking Dawn for $70 the week of release.

Any idea why Eclipse seems to be rarer and more costly?

Best guess is because they overproduced the G1 New Moons. They could not give that one away. There were a lot of other New Moon options as well (for example the Canadian G2 version). High supply and low demand left stores flooded with them. They may have overcomepensated and underproduced Eclipse. Outside of Spain, I don't believe anyone else put out an Eclipse Steelbook, so demand was much higher.

Well crap I bought my Breaking Dawn like 2-3 weeks ago and my Best Buy still had two of them, I guess I should have bought both.

any steelbook with kristen stewart on it is a must

Huh she is not good looking at all we were joking during Snow White that
even when Chsrlize Theron became a craggy old hag
she was still hotter than Kristen Stewart.
