***Please see separate threads to discuss individual Steels/see inside/back art***

View attachment 6580In this thread, you voiced your opinion. I passed it on to all the powers that be and Hi-Def Ninja's voice seemingly has been heard.

While I cannot say they have switched from landscape (horizontal) to portrait (vertical). I can say that the quality of this batch is heading into a MORE than acceptable and reasonable solution.

There are some cheap, done horribly landscape titles out there. But there are also some magnificent must own ones as well. (Monsters, DE - Book of Eli, DE come to mind)

Here is the news that makes me excited to see what these all will look like regarding this wave. I would rather have quality made horizontal's then the exact same art from the German wave.

they may well be able to do internal artwork on these too which combined with the removable taco card with the tech specs on should give these a very polished look. There may also be some debossing on some of them too, I’m imagining the title treatment but I don’t know for sure.
I've also been given a sneak peek at one of the titles, so let me know what you think about this one and the others if given this level of art quality for the rest of the wave.

If you like, chime in with which titles you'd like to see debossing on this wave and who knows ... it might just happen. ;)

Titles in the Wave:

Hott Fuzz
Carlito's Way
Shaun of the Dead
Pitch Black
Children of Men
An American Werewolf In London
Hulk
The Incredible Hulk
Kick-Ass
The Thing
Hellboy 2

Wreck, you're awesome!

Good to see they're planning clean Steelbooks. No rating, with backart and hopefully inside art :) Although, I still prefer them vertical.
And I've got three titles I'd like to see embossed (or debossed):
- The Incredible Hulk
- The Thing
- Kick-Ass

And please go all out on The Incredible Hulk, cause it will be the only Blu Steelbook of this movie available. Don't make it just awesome. Make it awe-a-whole-lot! :D

Thanks for all your efforts Wreck! I don't mind a Horizontal Steel and am looking forward to the artwork on these. I would love Carlitos way to have an embossed title!

Does it have to be the title which is embossed/debossed? I'm just thinking of the silhouette on some covers i've seen of Pitch Black....

Gotta love this Forum. Well done to everybody for making this a great place to get a message across. :scat:

The icing on the cake (and considering we get some well thought out debossing/embossing on a few of these at least) would be:

a)
Make these releases limited edition.

b)
Maybe release the titles one at a time, every two weeks perhaps.

c)
Make a ultra limited edition for collectors in a case (perhaps modelled on the Univerasl logo) thats holds the complete set.
Oh! and put me down for one.EEK!

Also, as a side note, I dont mind paying 20-25 for a well thought out steelboook if I know there is only 4000,8000 being printed. I would love it if there could be more transparency with the number of limited steels produced for an individual title.

Wreck, that is superb thank you very very much!!

Really like the look of the American Werewolf In London...... I think I may end up going for a few of these!!

Hope to see more art work and prices soon!

Wreck, very nice work and thanks for the info. Its much appreciated. But Im still out for the entire wave.

To me this is almost the same thing as offloading G1 sized bluray steel books onto us. Simply put its a NO GO. If we don't stop buying the products the studio's simply will not stop making them.

I won't buy G1's and I won't buy horizontals. The big one that irks me from this wave is The Incredible Hulk... really-really wanted that steel book. Oh well.

Wreck and Man of Steel great work much appreciated its great Play / Universal are listening. Shame they didn't put an e-mail round in October asking what us the collectors wanted. AW looks really good in Landscape though.

I'd like to see them go all out on The Thing and Hulk as my main choices for Embossing / Debossing but I'm greedy so I want it done to all of them. :D

Wreck and Man of Steel; We thank you both for ensuring everybody's voices were heard, and the studios have taken the feedback on board and are listening to the masses!

Where else but HDN would this have been possible?! :scat:
