I've been in the steelbook game since before 2009 and it's always the same cycle with this type of limited run collectible.
People get upset when a steelbook is out of stock and they forgot to order.
They get upset when someone ordered a bunch and put them on ebay.
They get upset when it doesn't have gloss or it's matte or it's polka dots.
Point being, there are number of avenues and threads to discuss these "themes" and that's why we have dedicated areas for these items and it's the same type of argument that happens again and again and again.
I'm sorry, but I don't know about anyone else, but doesn't some of this stuff get old? The same thing over and over? Now granted there is only so much to chat about, but the reason why we have a thread for each release, the reason why the first post is stickied on the thread, the reason why we ask members to keep to (mostly) a certain topic, is that no matter what happens, that information is organized, centralized and easier to find.
People have disagreements, I get that discussions become heated, but it always spills over into threads and other people then get involved - and then a mod has to delete or move a post, because it becomes inflamed. Most members here don't have a problem, but I know that's just part of any board - there will be troublemakers and folks that just don't get along. If all of you got along, and could be civil and reasonable in all your discussions, there would be no need to mod this steelbook board as heavy as we do.
But on the other hand, the stated goal of HDN is for EVERYONE to feel WELCOME and for EVERYONE to feel that their opinion is valued.
I've been to other boards where there is no mod interaction, and there is no consistent message from the top - about WHY things are being done a certain way - and so HERE, mods are forced to get involved more often than we would like. A LOT of folks work VERY hard in this section, to keep things on track and on task.
And these guidelines are NOT new. They've been around for a VERY long time. I know some new members may not realize what we do and why we do it, every day and this is one of the reasons why I have such a long post.
It's my birthday, and here I am, rolling up the sleeves and getting in the middle of this conversation - I gotta end this rant before I get more upset! :movie:
